· 5 · conclusions and future prospects Conclusions First, we need to remind ourselves that the keys to addressing love in this new society are as follows: 1. The radicalization of modernity. Love no longer needs to be associated with instinct or anchored to the philosophy of consciousness. Rather, it incorporates intersubjectivity as a transformative element of the con- sequences of evolution and social change while seeming to be personal and private. The communicative force in current society guarantees that the traditional family institution cannot and allows us to move closer to the dream of loving passion. 2. Social actors as protagonists. We can now be the protagonists of our own lives through processes of individualization, overcoming the determin- ism of structuralism. We are faced with two fields of action, one com- municatively structured and one formally organized. The structures of communication are now being liberated in families and educational settings, increasing opportunities for choice and freedom. The strength and normativity of the system are facts. However, the strength of our own protagonism is also a fact. We can rewrite our own destinies 108 radical love: a revolution for the 21st century through constant dialogue and communication in a quest for a loving relationship that includes both stability and passion. 3. The role of dialogue and consensus. What was previously done without negotiation must now be discussed and agreed upon.
