DEVELOPING YOUR STRATEGY
In hindsight, I have learned that the most important aspect of this kind of work usually uncovers and points to a greater need. MTP was created to fill a perceived gap for underrepresented undergraduate students on campus that actually was indicative of a more provocative conversation I realized we needed to have about our institution and its self-understanding of its mission in relation to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Although the MTP experience began as a grass roots endeavor, its work alongside other strategies created a platform for meaningful institutional reflection to manifest. Moreover, the institution benefited from the students who opted into doing the work. Our campus is richer for it.
