CIUTI-Forum 2014

Pooling Academic Excellence with Entrepreneurship for New Partnerships

Edited By Martin Forstner, Hannelore Lee-Jahnke and Mingjiong Chai

The proceedings of the CIUTI FORUM 2014 outline in five chapters the different perspectives of academic excellence, pooled with entrepreneurship for new partnerships, focusing thus on an additional sense of innovation, fresh ideas and clever solutions in T&I training at universities. Therefore new projects of cooperation between universities and the market and international institutions are being presented, having always as a conditio sine qua non excellence and quality in training, paired with responsibility towards the students. This CIUTI FORUM did try to advise the major stakeholders once more, to use their own expertise to help to identify new needs, demands and challenges in their environment, and clearly showed how important it is in our academic training to look out of the box into the research of other disciplines in order to improve our didactical methods.
This volume contains contributions in English, French, German and Italian.

Dirk VERBEKE

Televic, a company based in Belgium, is a market leader in five different niche markets. It creates research based solutions, it builds high-qualitative products, it delivers unique customized services.

These high-tech communication systems are implemented in 5 specific niche markets: Rail, Education, Audiovisual, Conference, Healthcare.

We implement projects worldwide in collaboration with famous organizations in every market: train manufacturers (Alstom, Siemens, Hitachi, Bombardier, …), educational institutions (universities, schools, assessment centers, …), conferences (European Institutions such as Parliament/Commission/Council, United Nations, Parliaments worldwide, and many conference centers), hospitals (in Belgium, France and Germany).

Televic, founded in 1946, employing 580 persons worldwide, is focusing on innovation. International collaboration with universities & technology centers results in about 10 research projects and 20 theses per year. About 80% of our turnover is realized by recently developed products in last 5 years.

In its relations with many universities offering the Masters in Conference and Interpreting we discovered the need for an efficient interpreter training lab covering and simulating both worlds of education and professional interpreting.

It has become a unique solution integrating the professional interpreter equipment and the expertise of teaching technology.
