The Reasons for Driving to Mobbing in Healthcare Sector and the Ways to Challenge it in Turkey
Because of the rapidly changing life circumstances due to globalization, we call the 21st century we are living in, as the age of stress. Modernism making its mark to this age does not only bring its blessings but also its burdens. The negativity caused by this transformation process threatens the life quality of the employees by complicating especially the working conditions (rugged individualization, extreme competition environment, long working hours, low wage, absence of job security etc.). Nowadays, the whole humanity, in particular the under-developed ones, struggle to cope with these kinds of different uprising psycho-social problems. One of these problems is psychological harassment. Psychological violence can be defined as assaults targeting a person and an action intentionally done to exclude a person from occupational life by harassment, disturbance and maltreatment. Psychological violence might be more hazardous than physical violence as it may cause permanent psychological and psychosomatic effects (Davenport et al, 2003, Westhues, 2002).
