The Perceptions of Technological Leadership Metaphors by the School Principals

Abstract: Technology is one of the indispensable elements of our age. In the century we are living in, technological transformation and development are continuously observed. Moreover, technological development is also taking a leadership role and so the usage of technology reveals the level of development of the society. The Fatih project which was launched in 2012 in Turkey, utilising interactive whiteboard and tablet applications, shows that the technology is closer to our schools. This study aimed at drawing the metaphors of technological leadership among the school administrators which has become the necessity in our time of technological development. In order to find this perspective, the school principals were asked about their perception on how they reflect on the metaphor of technological leadership. The categories were collected to determine whether there was a significant difference on age, gender, and education of the school administrators on how they perceive the concept of technological leadership. The study consisted of 75 school administrators. According to the results, the school principals showed five categories of technological leadership metaphors as visionary leader, transformational leader, systematic development, reflective practice, and learning culture. In the study, the data revealed by the structural analysis techniques illustrated in the creation of a holistic relationship.
