Entdifferenzierung der Jugendphase
Abstract: Since the beginning of the last century, youth has been one of the topics which the social sciences have paid a lot of attention to. Youth research has continually attempted to identify the characteristics of a generation of young people or which different cultures developed from the youth of one cohort. Making a clear distinction between youth and young adults has proved difficult in quantitative studies. In any case, the diffusion rate of youth culture could not be determined through the cultural approach. In the social sciences, two different concepts of youth have been developed: as a period of transition (e.g. in developmental psychology) in the course of one’s life and as a moratorium (e.g. in sociology). Beyond these approaches, youth is connected with the characteristics of protest on the one hand and with innovation and creativity on the other.
