Physics without Metaphysics?

This study discusses the substance-tradition from Aristotle to Kant, Gödel, Quine, Strawson, Armstrong and others, the concept of matter and causation in quantum physics, Being-thinking from Aristotle to Heidegger, and system-building from Plato to Whitehead. It synthesizes the Kantian phenomena-noumena, extends the Quinean ontological commitment, creates a Gödelian foundationalist truth-probabilism, relativizes the Whiteheadian actual entity, extends the Aristotelian-Heideggerian Being to a nomic-nominal, verbal-processual To Be and overhauls perspectival-absolutist, non-foundationalist and relativist concepts of Reality. The resulting scientific ontology is termed Einaic Ontology for maximalist, mutually collusive, categorial reasons. The Appendix explains Heidegger’s anthropologized Being as ontologically and cosmologically defective.

1.  Founding Second Generation Speculative Philosophy

The thoughts presented in the foregoing chapters have been preliminary to a possible system of scientific-ontological thought that takes into consideration the major achievements and setbacks of the history of metaphysics. The present work is exploratory of the major philosophical areas it covers. A comprehensive system has to do with all possible areas of philosophy. Einaic Ontology is only the foundation of Einaic Philosophy. Within the theme of Transcendental and Transcendent categories for ontology and in general for speculative scientific philosophy growing out of such ontology we made attempts to preclude the “convenience” mode of ontologizing and philosophising rampant in many thinkers for more than two millennia. The convenience mode was practiced by many metaphysicians by being circumscriptive of anything less than To Be, Reality and Reality-in-general. Thus they ended up in classificational categories. Einaic categories overtook classificational categories by being most circumspective and generic of them and the various ontological starting points, which are all accepted as sub-categories within the purview of a set of mutually colluding systemic categories. That is, local ontologies and particular sciences, with their specific classificational categories, work under the generic standpoint of Einaic Ontology. This gives rise to a second generation of speculative scientific philosophy.

Circumscriptively, thus, the broadest consequence of the present work and the guiding principle that it issues for future ontological activity may be spelt out: Reality is realistically the most absolute reality. It is nakedly absolute, and at...
