E-Instructor Certificate Program: Reflections of Participants

Extract

1

Abstract The evolving global economy, technology, and professional development have created additional requirements for employees concerning their knowledge and skills. This applies to all sectors, and the education sector is no exception. Therefore, there is a need for teachers and all educational trainers who work in both the public or private sectors to make better use of the available educational technologies, and to enhance the efficiency of the teaching-learning process through these technologies. The aim of this study is to introduce an e-instructor certificate program and then to evaluate it by examining the reflections of the participants. This qualitative case study is carried out with eight participants who enrolled in the e-instructor certificate program at a private university in Ankara, Turkey. According to the results, it can be said that the e-instructor certificate program met the participants’ expectations. The program provided many benefits, such as knowledge about the new technologies, methods and programs, e-assessment, and distance education in general. Participants of the program supported the choice of topics proposed, which were deemed to be both important and popular.
