Zusammenfassung

The phenomenon of self-translation dates back more than two thousand years (Kumakhova 2005), but it was not studied by academics until the 1960s because of its unique and marginal nature. In order to examine the similarities and differences in research focus as well as the overall situation of self-translation research in China and abroad, this study gathered relevant literature on self-translation research from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science, which are broadly recognized databases in China and abroad; and it used CiteSpace 6.1.R2 visualization software to generate a scientific knowledge map to examine comprehensively the current situation, hot spots, and frontiers of this field, so as to come up ultimately with forward-looking suggestions for the future development of self-translation studies.
