Religions and Discourse

«Religions and Discourse» explores religious language in the major world faiths from various viewpoints, including semiotics, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics, and reflects on how it is situated within wider intellectual and cultural contexts. In particular a key issue is the role of figurative speech. Many fascinating metaphors originate in religion e.g. revelation as a ‘garment’, apostasy as ‘adultery’, loving kindness as the ‘circumcision of the heart’. Every religion rests its specific orientations upon symbols such as these, to name but a few. The series strives after the interdisciplinary approach that brings together such diverse disciplines as religious studies, theology, sociology, philosophy, linguistics and literature, guided by an international editorial board of scholars representative of the aforementioned disciplines. Though scholarly in its scope, the series also seeks to facilitate discussions pertaining to central religious issues in contemporary contexts. The series will publish monographs and collected essays of a high scholarly standard.

The series provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion of aspects of a cultural science-oriented economics. Representations of economic relationships in literature and other arts, cultural sociological studies on the relationship between art, culture and economics, linguistics and literary analysis of economic narratives and metaphors, and the importance of cultural studies concepts such as fictionality and virtuality in the context of financial economics are topics of the series. Also, studies on the design and manipulation of spaces, time management and cultural practices are within its scope. Manuscript Proposals may be submitted in literary and cultural studies, economics, sociology, and philosophy – like with comparative or interdisciplinary approach. Languages of publication are primarily German and English. All volumes are peer reviewed. Auch Studien zur Gestaltung und Veränderung von Raum und Räumen oder Zeitmanagement und kulturellen Praxen entsprechen ihrem Profil. Manuskriptvorschläge können unterbreitet werden aus Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften, Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Soziologie und Philosophie – gern mit komparatistischem oder interdisziplinärem Ansatz. Postcolonial Studies

The Postcolonial Studies series explores the enormous variety and richness in postcolonial culture and transnational literatures. The series aims to publish work which explores various facets of the legacy of colonialism including: imperialism, nationalism, representation and resistance, neocolonialism, diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, exile, and geographical and metaphorical borderlands. This series does not define its attentions to any single place, region, or disciplinary approach, and we are interested in books informed by a variety of theoretical perspectives. While seeking the highest standards of scholarship, the Postcolonial Studies series is thus a broad forum for the interrogation of textual, cultural and political postcolonialisms. The series welcomes both individually authored and collaboratively authored books and monographs as well as edited collections of essays.

Travel Writing Across the Disciplines

The recent critical attention devoted to travel writing enacts a logical transition from the ongoing focus on autobiography, subjectivity, and multiculturalism. Travel extends the inward direction of autobiography to consider the journey outward and intersects provocatively with studies of multiculturalism, gender, and subjectivity. Whatever the journey's motive--tourism, study, flight, emigration, or domination--journey changes both the country visited and the self that travels. Travel Writing Across the Disciplines welcomes studies from all periods of literature on the theory and/or pedagogy of travel writing from various disciplines, such as social history, cultural theory, multicultural studies, anthropology, sociology, religious studies, literary analysis, and feminist criticism. The volumes in this series explore journey literature from critical and pedagogical perspectives and focus on travel as metaphor in cultural practice. Aspects linguistiques et culturels des discours spécialisés

Cette collection a pour objet de promouvoir l’’étude des domaines spécialisés à travers les aspects linguistiques, discursifs et culturels qui permettent de les caractériser. Elle accueillera des travaux de recherche rédigés en français qui aborderont des domaines disciplinaires ou professionnels dans une perspective synchronique ou diachronique par le biais de la terminologie, la linguistique, la stylistique, l’’analyse du discours ou d’’un genre particulier. Elle s’’adresse à des chercheurs intéressés par les langues de spécialité, qu’’ils soient spécialistes de langues étrangères, de l’’un des axes précédemment évoqués ou encore de traduction. Les analyses pourront porter, à titre d’’exemples, sur la néologie, les métaphores constitutives de la théorie d’’un domaine, les aspects rhétoriques, l’’analyse des éléments des discours spécialisés, l’’histoire des idées pour un domaine donné à travers les concepts et leur dénomination, l’’étude des normes et contraintes en vigueur dans un milieu spécialisé à travers le/les discours. Cette collection accueillera des monographies ou des ouvrages collectifs rassemblant des articles sur un thème donné. Dans les deux cas, les tapuscrits soumis seront évalués de manière anonyme par deux spécialistes du domaine.
