Studi Pergolesiani / Pergolesi Studies is a series founded and conceived by Francesco Degrada. The first issue (1986), were the proceedings of the first conference on Giovanni Battista Pergolesi held in Jesi in 1983. Other conference proceedings followed, all with studies on Pergolesi, until the sixth issue was published in 2011. The series, now published by Peter Lang, continues under the aegis of the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini of Jesi, which promotes studies, editions and modern performances of music by Pergolesi. The Series «　Borders and European Integration　» fills in a gap in Social Sciences, as it connects two so far independent research strands: European Studies and Border Studies. Mainly initiated by geographers and originally hosted in the United States, Border Studies primarily deal with the study of borders and borderlands, whereas European Studies analyse the process of European Integration, its actors, institutions and policy fields. Although the idea of a Europe without borders was part of the project of the European Economic Community, the multidimensional role of the border has not been sufficiently taken into account by researchers in European Studies. Inversely, Border Studies have only rarely examined the specificity of borders and borderlands in Europe in comparison to other regions in the world. At the crossroads between Area Studies and International Relations, this Series therefore offers a pluri-disciplinary approach to borders and their role in the European construction. Taking into account the perspective of different disciplines in Social Sciences, the diversity of actors of European Integration and borderlands (local, regional, national,) it allows a new multi-level and decentred view on conflicts and cooperation at European borders. The Series addresses researchers and university scholars of all disciplines in Social Sciences and wishes to tackle the challenging contemporary questions on borders in Europe. La collection «　Frontières et intégration européenne　» répond au besoin de lier deux champs disciplinaires jusque-là peu connectés　: celui des études européennes et celui des Border Studies. Fortement impulsés par les géographes et implantés au départ aux Etats-Unis, les Border Studies s’intéressent surtout à l’étude de la frontière et aux espaces de voisinage alors que les études européennes se penchent sur l’analyse du processus d’intégration européenne, ses acteurs, ses institutions et ses politiques. Alors que l’idée de l’Europe sans frontières fait partie du projet de la Communauté économique européenne, le rôle multidimensionnel de la frontière n’a pas été suffisamment pris en compte par les chercheurs en Etudes européennes. De leur côté, les Border Studies n’ont que peu abordé la spécificité des frontières de l’Europe et de ses espaces de voisinage par rapport à d’autres régions dans le monde. Au croisement des Area Studies et des Relations Internationales, la collection propose donc une approche pluridisciplinaire des frontières et de leur rôle dans la construction européenne. En tenant compte du regard différentes disciplines en Sciences humaines, de la diversité des acteurs de la construction européenne et des territoires frontaliers (locaux, régionaux, nationaux ) en Europe, elle permet ainsi d’avoir une nouvelle approche multi-niveaux et décentralisée des conflits et coopérations aux frontières européennes. La collection s’adresse aux universitaires et chercheurs de toute discipline en Sciences humaines souhaitant interroger les grandes thématiques des frontières en Europe. Die Reihe «　Grenzen und Europäische Integration　» schließt eine Lücke in den Geisteswissenschaften, indem sie zwei bisher unabhängige Forschungsstränge miteinander verknüpft: die Europawissenschaften und die Border Studies. Die im Wesentlichen von den Geographen angestossenen und ursprünglich in den USA angesiedelten Border Studies interessieren sich vor allem für die Erforschung von Grenzen und Grenzgebieten, bzw. Nachbarschaftsräumen, während die Europawissenschaften sich der Analyse des Europäischen Integrationsprozesses, dessen Akteure, Institutionen und Politikfelder widmen. Obwohl die Idee eines Europa ohne Grenzen auch Teil des Projektes der Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft war, wurde die multidimensionale Rolle der Grenze nicht immer ausreichend von den Europawissenschaftlern berücksichtigt. Anderseits haben die Border Studies nur wenig die Spezifizität der Grenzen und Grenzräume Europas im Vergleich zu anderen Regionen in der Welt erforscht. Am Wegkreuz zwischen den Area Studies und den Internationalen Beziehungen bietet die Reihe daher einen pluri-disziplinaren Ansatz zu Grenzen und ihrer Rolle in der Europäischen Konstruktion. Durch die Berücksichtigung der Perspektive verschiedener Disziplinen aus den Geisteswissenschaften, der Diversität der Akteure der Europäischen Integration und der Grenzräume (lokale, regionale, nationale) ermöglicht sie eine neue multi-level und dezentralisierte Betrachtungsweise der Konflikte und Kooperationen an europäischen Grenzen. Die Reihe wendet sich an Forscher und Universitätsdozenten aus allen Disziplinen der Geisteswissenschaften und möchte die großen thematischen Fragestellungen zu Grenzen in Europa erschließen.

It is impossible to comprehend European culture as a coherent homogenous whole without an enquiry into this literature. European culture perceived as the sum of national literatures emerges to us as incomplete and distorted as a figure reflected in a broken mirror. The series œNeo-Latin Studies shall include books concerning all aspects of Neo-Latin writing. It is our intention to pay a special attention to Central European writing of the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries and more broadly the issues of the Northern Renaissance. CGL-Studies

Die CGL-Studies versammeln Forschungsergebnisse zur Geschichte der Landschaftsarchitektur und Gartenkunst sowie zu Fragen der modernen Landschaftsarchitektur. Im Spannungsfeld von Geschichtsforschung einerseits und zeitgenössischer Praxis andererseits werden neue Ansätze und Methoden entwickelt und erörtert. Dabei richtet sich der Blick auf die zeitgenössische Landschaftsarchitektur sowie die Geschichte von Gartenkunst und Gartendenkmalpflege. In diesem Kontext wird den Interferenzen zwischen Landschaftsarchitektur, Städtebau und Architektur ein besonderes Interesse zuteil. Die ersten Bände, Ergebnisse zweier durch die Klosterkammer Hannover geförderter Promotionsstipendien, behandeln die Gartenkultur der norddeutschen Frauenklöster und Damenstifte sowie den Transfer gartenkulturellen Wissens von China in die europäische Gartenkunst. In einem weiteren Band werden die Ergebnisse des Workshops «Naturschutz und Demokratie» veröffentlicht, der vom Bundesminister für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit gefördert wurde. Folgepublikationen sind derzeit geplant zu modernen Formen der Landschaftswahrnehmung und ihrer Bedeutung für die Landschaftsarchitektur sowie zum Thema «Gärten und Parks im Leben der jüdischen Bevölkerung nach 1933».

Feuchtwanger Studies

This series focuses on the life and work of the internationally celebrated German writer Lion Feuchtwanger (1884–1958), whose works have been translated into many languages. Of particular interest are topics such as Feuchtwanger’s role as a critic of Weimar Germany and the rise of Nazism, his years of exile in France (1933–40) and in the United States (1940–58), his achievements as a proponent of the historical novel, and his reception both in Germany and in the wider world. The series presents Feuchtwanger in the context of his times, paying special attention to his years in Southern California and his relationships with other leading cultural figures of the era. With Feuchtwanger at its core, the series explores the multinational literary and intellectual network that resulted from German and Austrian exile under Nationalism Socialism: from Paris to Vienna, Los Angeles to London, Buenos Aires to Tel Aviv, and New York to Moscow. Contributions present cutting-edge research elaborating on the intricate relations of literary locations, emotional spaces and biographies characteristic of these important writers, artists and filmmakers. Books in the series will be of interest to those working in German studies, exile studies, Jewish studies, gender studies and film studies. Volumes in the series include selections of refereed and reworked papers from the biennial conferences of the International Feuchtwanger Society as well as specially commissioned monographs relating to Marta and Lion Feuchtwanger, their circle and contemporaries.

Exile Studies

Exile Studies is a series of monographs and edited collections that takes a broad view of exile, including the life and work of refugees from National Socialism, and beyond. The series explores the different global and cultural spaces of exile and refuge as well as the specific historical, political and social concerns of exile writers and artists. The series engages with recent theoretical approaches to exile to shed new light on the unique conditions of mass flight from National Socialist persecution, with a particular interest in the work of Jewish refugees of the period. A plurality of theoretical approaches is encouraged, featuring research that reaches beyond national frameworks or disciplinary boundaries and takes multi-directional, transcultural or comparative approaches. The series aims to make connections to studies on more recent groups of refugees and to contribute to current debates. Themes include persecution,　exclusion and delocalization, legacies of displacement, loss and acculturation as well as the creation of new homes and networks. The series promotes dialogue among transnational, Jewish and memory studies, and among diaspora, Holocaust and postcolonial studies. It invites research that acknowledges questions of gender, race, class, religion and ethnicity as indispensable tools for understanding the cultural processes connected to the lives and works of refugees and exiles.

"For many years, the field of Childhood Studies has crossed disciplinary boundaries that include, but are not limited to, anthropology, art, education, history, humanities, and sociology by addressing diverse histories, cultures, forms of representation, and conceptualizations of «childhood». The publications in the Rethinking Childhood Series have supported this work by challenging the universalization of childhood and introducing reconceptualized, critical spaces from which increased social justice and possibilities are generated for those who are younger. This newly named Childhood Studies Series in the global 21st century is created to continue this focus on social justice for those who are younger, but also to broaden and further explore conceptualizations of privilege, justice, possibility, responsibility and activism. Authors are encouraged to consider «childhood» from within a context that would decenter human privilege and acknowledge environmental justice and the more-than-human Other, while continuing to research, act upon, and transform beliefs, public policy, societal institutions, and possibilities for ways of living/being in the world for all of us. Boundary crossings are of greater importance than ever as we live unprecedented technological change, violence against living beings that are not labeled human (through experimentation, industrialization, and medicine), plundering of the earth, and gaps between the privileged and the marginalized (whether rich/poor, human/nonhuman). Along with continued concerns related to social justice, equity, poverty, and diversity, some authors in the Childhood Studies Series will choose to think about, and ask questions like: What does it mean to be a younger human being within such a world? What are the values, education, and forms of care provided within this context; and can/how should these dispositions and practices be transformed? Can childhood studies, and the diverse forms of representation and practice associated with it, conceptualize and practice a more just world broadly, while avoiding utopian determinisms and continuing to remain critical and multiple? This interdisciplinary book series showcases dynamic, innovative research on contemporary and historical Australian culture. It aims to foster interventions in established debates on Australia as well as opening up new areas of enquiry that reflect the diversity of interests in the scholarly community. The Liturgical Studies series provides a forum for scholars of matters related to the theory and practice of ritual and worship. Titles in this series may address liturgical history, liturgical theology, ritual studies, or interdisciplinary writing and research centered on topics related to liturgical aspects of both secular and religious culture. Approaches may be multi-disciplinary, concentrated in a single aspect of liturgical studies, or focused on performance theory in worship. The Postcolonial Studies series explores the enormous variety and richness in postcolonial culture and transnational literatures. The series aims to publish work which explores various facets of the legacy of colonialism including: imperialism, nationalism, representation and resistance, neocolonialism, diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, exile, and geographical and metaphorical borderlands. This series does not define its attentions to any single place, region, or disciplinary approach, and we are interested in books informed by a variety of theoretical perspectives. While seeking the highest standards of scholarship, the Postcolonial Studies series is thus a broad forum for the interrogation of textual, cultural and political postcolonialisms. Pilgrimage Studies

From the Islamic Hajj to journeys to an ancestral homeland, pilgrimages are growing global phenomena with far-reaching national, political, societal, economical, religious, and cultural impact. Globalization, which has led to increased possibilities of travel and interconnectivity, underpins the growth of pilgrimages, as does the contemporary notion that pilgrimages are framed as journeys of meaning constructed by pilgrims. Despite universal exemplars of pilgrimage, there is a dearth of multidisciplinary, and multilingual, literature on the topic. This series aims to fuse multiple streams of pilgrimage discourse and provide a forum for formerly disparate conversations on the pilgrimage phenomenon. Proposals are welcome for monographs and edited collections that explore the intersection of pilgrimage with topics such as identity, heritage, ethnicity and genealogy, political power, nationalism, gender and sexuality, architecture, law, technology, climate and geography, and health and wellbeing. Additionally, manuscripts that represent new perspectives on existing pilgrimage sites and historical narratives are welcome and contributions from non-Anglo authors will be considered. Approaches may be interdisciplinary and may address cultural productivity in Galician, Spanish and Portuguese languages, or others that are directly relevant to the understanding of the past, present, and future of Galicia.
