Il discorso sulle migrazioni / Der Migrationsdiskurs
Approcci linguistici, comparativi e interdisciplinari / Sprachwissenschaftliche, vergleichende und interdisziplinäre Perspektiven
Edited By Daniela Pietrini

At the same time, it shapes the formalized network of terms on which social discourse is built. The normative texts are therefore a primary testimony of the way in which a country describes and defines the various expressions of its associated life over time.
It therefore seems useful to us to investigate how the vocabulary of citizenship and immigration in Italy has been structured and changed, using the laws that have governed these phenomena over the years as sources.
The oldest Italian law dealing with the work of Immigrants is number 943 of 1986, soon followed by 39/1990, which for the first time accepts the stable presence of foreigners living and working in Italy. It is with the rules established in 1990 that the first great Italian migratory crisis, marked by the landings from Albania on the Apulian coasts in 1991, will be tackled. Since the early 1990s, and up to the decree-law 53/2019 (the so called “decreto sicurezza bis” / “security decree bis”), laws and decrees issued by governments of different political colors have introduced and fixed a terminology of immigration that both media and people have adopted, giving new shape to concepts...
