Zusammenfassung
From November 4 to November 5, 2023, Nanjing Normal University in China hosted the “International Symposium on Retrospective and Prospective of Global Chinese Music Research” to celebrate the publication of The Oxford Handbook of Music in China and the Chinese Diaspora. This landmark volume is the first Oxford Handbook dedicated to the music of a single country and its diaspora, marking a significant milestone in the global study of Chinese music. The symposium brought together over 200 scholars of Chinese music from China and abroad, both in person and online, to explore the past, present, and future of Chinese music research. A comprehensive report of the conference is featured in this issue of Asian Musicology. Additionally, we present the transcriptions of keynote addresses by Professor Jonathan Stock and Professor Fred Lau, which offer valuable insights into the discussions and outcomes of this unique event.
