Summary

This special issue of Philosophy and Theory in Higher Education engages critically with varied philosophies and theories of slowness, examining how these ideas open up possibilities for inhabiting universities. It had its genesis in several years of collaborative inquiry and dialogue among scholars. In 2022, the Philosophy and Theory in Higher Education Society (PaTHES) hosted a series of online club meets and webinars for researchers, educators and practitioners around the world to explore slowness as a transformative approach in higher education. Voices in the series included Rikke Toft Nørgård, Barbara Grant, Sean Sturm, Maha Bali, Finn Thorbjørn Hansen, Frances Kelly, Alison Phipps and Agnes Bosanquet.
