Summary

This post-qualitative inquiry uses assemblage theory and new materialist philosophy to explore the materiality produced on a campus designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). This ethnographic study focuses on how Latine students engage with and transform campus landscapes and neoliberal ideologies by theorizing the institution, campus landscape, and the HSI designation as assemblages. This research highlights moments of de/reterritorialization within three assemblages, revealing how the materiality of an HSI campus can produce new elements that demonstrate HSIs as complex and open systems.
