The latest monograph by Simone Marchesi, Vernacular Edens: Tropes of Translation in Medieval European Fictions, is a far-ranging and highly subtle study of medieval European literature. Marchesi is a Professor of French and Italian at Princeton University, whose principal work is focused on Dante and Giovanni Boccaccio. His previous book was Dante and Augustine: Linguistics, Poetics, Hermeneutics (University of Toronto, 2011), which explored the impact of the Church Father on the author of the Divine Comedy.
