Zusammenfassung
In the Introduction (“Women in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages: An Introduction,” pp. 13–27), the editors of the volume, Éric Fournier and Maijastina Kahlos, emphasize the serious lack of historical research on women during late antiquity and the early medieval Roman–Barbarian kingdoms (with the exception of the Gallic region). They address this research gap also encouraging male scholars to become more involved “to reduce the ‘ghettoization’ of women’s history written by women for women” (p. 14). All of this is based on the concrete assumption that women’s history is an integral and significant part of historiographical research.
