Zusammenfassung
Christine de Pizan has long been recognized as one of the major literary voices in early fifteenth-century France and as a strong defender of women’s causes. We would not go wrong calling her even a medieval ‘feminist.’ Her work comprises a wide range of texts in many different genres, and we have noticed that she was greatly respected by the highest echelons of her society. In fact, in some of her didactic treatises she enjoyed enough authority to counsel the king about proper behavior, wise rulership, and ethical and moral principles.
