The home market, the Euro, strong international cooperation, economic success and peace in Europe will work better and with more stability, or at least less difficulty, the more multilin-gual Europeans are. While the institutional EU has done a lot to pursue the targets (since 2007, there have been a separate fund and a Commissioner for Multilingualism), the situation in the individual countries continues to differ widely. The result is that the multilingual abili-ties of European citizens and societal multilingualism, including diglossia, vary from country to country. The series Multilingualism in Europe seeks to contribute from different perspectivesto a bet-ter definition of the phenomenon of multilingualism, providing theoretical and practical sup-port on how multilingualism can be explored and promoted and how it can work effectively. Interdisciplinary approaches are welcome in the following areas: • Linguistics • Neurolinguistics • Psychology • Didactics of multilingualism • Politics • History • Sociology • Political Sciences • Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies Le marché européen, l'Euro, l’importante coopération internationale, la réussite économique et la paix en Europe sont d’autant plus stables et fonctionnent d’autant mieux si la plupart des citoyens européens sont plurilingues. L’UE a fait suivre ses objectifs de mesures concrètes (depuis 2007, il y a un commissaire à l'éducation, à la culture, au multilinguisme et à la jeunesse), cependant la situation dans les différents pays européens reste très hétérogène : les compétences plurilinguistiques des citoyens européens et le multilinguisme sociétal, y compris la diglossie varient d'un pays à l'autre. La collection « Multilinguisme en Europe » a comme objectif d’apporter une contribution en analysant ces questions sous des angles divers, en cernant le phénomène du multilinguisme et en fournissant des apports théoriques et pratiques qui permettent de promouvoir le multilinguisme et le savoir comment celui progresse de manière efficace. Les domaines scientifiques suivants constituent le point de départ, l’interdisciplinarité y est dominante : • linguistique • neurolinguistique • psychologie • didactique du plurilinguisme • histoire • sociologie • sciences politiques • littérature et civilisations comparées Binnenmarkt, Euro, intensive internationale Zusammenarbeit, wirtschaftlicher Erfolg und Friede in Europa können umso besser und stabiler bzw. überhaupt störungsfrei funktionieren, wenn möglichst viele EuropäerInnen mehrsprachig sind. Während die EU institutionell den Zielvorgaben konkrete Taten hat folgen lassen (seit 2007 gibt es ein eigenes Portfolio und damit einen eigenen Kommissar für Mehrsprachigkeit), sieht die Lage in den einzelnen Ländern weiterhin sehr unterschiedlich aus. Die Folge: Die Mehrsprachenkompetenz der europäischen BürgerInnen und die gesellschaftliche Mehrsprachigkeit inklusive der Diglossie variieren von Land zu Land. Die Reihe Mehrsprachigkeit in Europa möchte einen Beitrag dazu leisten, das Thema aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln zu analysieren, das Phänomen der Mehrsprachigkeit besser zu definieren und theoretische und praktische Hilfestellungen dahin gehend zu geben, wie Mehrsprachigkeit erforscht und gefördert werden kann und wie sie effizient funktioniert. Folgende wissenschaftliche Perspektiven bilden den Ausgangspunkt, wobei interdisziplinäre Ansätze erwünscht sind: • Linguistik • Neurolinguistik • Psychologie • Mehrsprachigkeitsdidaktik • Politik • Geschichte • Soziologie • Politikwissenschaften • vergleichende Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften.

The series Language, Literature, Translation (LeLiTrad) will gather research papers on the various fields related to humanistic and specialized translation approached from multidisciplinary perspectives. In the present collection, therefore, the collection would bring together papers on the translation of literary works from assumptions related to comparative studies, discourse analysis, or the relationships between literature and other arts; Also, the collection would be hosting research papers on disciplines like terminology, applied linguistics, and specialized translation in a variety of fields (such as legal, bio-sanitary, agri-food, technical, hybrid texts, veterinary sciences, economic sciences, translation for citizen security and translation for social affairs, audiovisual translation, para-translation, etc.). Next to these, research papers focused on different aspects of translation like theoretical essays and work on inter-language interpretation will also be accepted and assessed for publication. In short, the series Language, Literature, Translation aims to offer the specialized readers all theoretical and practical aspects hinging around the translation of texts and interpretation of speeches, so that they may contribute to the critical debate and the resulting enrichment of the discipline both in Spain and in the wider European context. La colección Lengua, Literatura, Traducción (LeLiTrad) reúne los distintos ámbitos relacionados con la traducción humanística y especializada desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar. En este sentido, abordamos desde esta colección la traducción literaria de obras desde presupuestos relacionados con la comparatística, el análisis del discurso, o la relación de la literatura con otras artes; por otro lado, la colección acoge trabajos sobre terminología, lingüística aplicada, y traducción especializada en sus múltiples ámbitos (jurídico, biosanitario, agroalimentario, técnico, textos híbridos, ciencias veterinarias, ciencias económicas, traducción para la inclusión, traducción para la seguridad de la ciudadanía y traducción social, traducción audiovisual, paratraducción, etc.). Junto a estos trabajos destinados a las distintas vertientes de la traducción también se contemplarán trabajos de tipo teórico sobre traductología e interpretación.En definitiva, la colección Lengua, Literatura, Traducción pretende mostrar todos los aspectos tanto teóricos como prácticos en torno a la traducción de los textos y a la interpretación de los discursos, de forma que contribuyan al debate crítico y al enriquecimiento de la disciplina dentro de España y en su contexto europeo.

This interdisciplinary and international book series aims to bring together current approaches in the environmental humanities (particularly in the fields of ecocriticism, environmental history, and environmental justice), with a focus on European contexts. It comprises thematic and theoretical studies which engage ecological issues, climate change, and the discourse of the Anthropocene, seeking to understand the forms of their representation across different media, cultures, and historical periods. „Studies in Literature, Culture, and the Environment" aim to connect the environmental humanities to the social and natural sciences and thus to contribute to the remediation of ecological problems. The series comprises monographs and edited volumes in both German and English. All publications will be peer reviewed. Book proposals are welcome and may be submitted to the editors. Belgian Francophone Library

As Belgium has become a center and focal point of the resurgent new Europe, the Belgian Francophone Library was founded as a special series devoted to the rich and varied literature and cultural life of the French-speaking community in Belgium. The series will publish English translations of important works of Belgian literature, as well as critical studies, principally in French and English, of Belgian literature, culture, and social history. It is the hope of series editor and the initial contributors to the series to broaden knowledge of the specificity, fascination, and enduring artistic contribution of this crossroads country. Trans-Atlántico / Trans-Atlantique

Dans le panorama de la recherche et, plus particulièrement, de l’hispanisme, un nouveau paradigme privilégiant la prise en considération des échanges et de la circulation de modèles s’affirme. Cette nouvelle perspective permet l’émergence d’un nouveau champ d’études centré sur les relations transatlantiques, transnationales et intercontinentales ; elle met l’accent sur les échanges, les migrations et les passages qui se déclinent de différentes façons entre les cultures des deux côtés de l’Atlantique, depuis plus de cinq siècles. Plus que le paquebot de ligne destiné à la traversée régulière entre l’Europe et l’Amérique, le titre de cette Collection « Trans-Atlántico / Trans-Atlantique » évoque le roman homonyme de Witold Gombrowicz – où apparait justement le trait d’union –, les déambulations du protagoniste entre deux mondes, ainsi que les rapprochements entre des lieux bien différents d’une même réalité (la Pologne, où Gombrowicz est né, et l’Argentine, lieu de son séjour prolongé). La Collection « Trans-Atlántico / Trans-Atlantique » se veut un espace d’édition ouvert aux travaux qui privilégient cette approche de la littérature comme lieu transculturel par excellence, lieu de dialogue et de controverse entre différents types de discours, lieu, enfin, de tous les possibles, où s’élaborent de nouvelles pratiques de pensée et de création pour donner du sens à l’en-dehors qui l’entoure. En el panorama actual de la investigación, especialmente en el campo del hispanismo, se afirma la presencia de un nuevo paradigma que toma en cuenta, privilegiándolos, los intercambios y la circulación de modelos. Esta nueva perspectiva ha permitido la emergencia de un nuevo campo de estudios, centrado en las relaciones trasatlánticas, transnacionales e inter-continentales, que subraya la importancia de los intercambios, migraciones y pasajes que se declinan de diferentes modos entre las culturas de los dos lados del Atlántico, desde hace más de cinco siglos. El título de esta Colección «Trans-Atlántico / Trans-Atlantique» se propone evocar, más allá del vapor de línea que hace la travesía regular entre Europa y América, la novela homónima de Witold Gombrowicz – donde aparece justamente el guión –, y las deambulaciones del protagonista entre dos mundos así como los acercamientos posibles entre dos lugares diferentes de una misma realidad (Polonia, donde Gombrowicz nació y Argentina, lugar donde reside de manera prolongada). La Collection «Trans-Atlántico / Trans-Atlantique» es un espacio de publicación de obras que se centren en este tipo de abordaje de la literatura como lugar transcultural por excelencia, lugar de diálogo y de controversia entre diferentes tipos de discurso, lugar de todos los posibles donde se elaboran nuevas prácticas de conocimiento y de creación para dar sentido a lo que está afuera y que, sin embargo, la literatura comprende.

Colloquia Baltica

Die Bände der Reihe Colloquia Baltica möchten zur guten Nachbarschaft zwischen Deutschen und den Völkern des Ostseeraumes beitragen. Colloquia Baltica versammelt Arbeiten über die Beziehungen von Deutschland und Polen, Finnland, Litauen, Estland und Lettland, aber auch Russland, der Ukraine, Tschechien und der Slowakei. Die Autoren behandeln in erster Linie Themen aus Geschichte und Literatur, die sich mit Landschaft, Sprache und Architektur zum Gedächtnis in Zeit und Raum verbinden – einem Gedächtnis, das weder Krieg noch Flucht, weder Vertreibung noch Umsiedlung zerstören können. Dabei geht es nicht um rückwärts gerichtete Erinnerungspolitik aus nationaler Perspektive, sondern um die Vielfalt historischer und gegenwärtiger Beziehungen im östlichen Europa. Erfahrung in Raum und Zeit verhilft zu Selbst-Bewusstsein, zur Einsicht in die eigenen Möglichkeiten, das eigene Vermögen, die Welt zu gestalten. In diesem Sinne möchten die Monographien, Tagungsbände und Anthologien der Colloquia Baltica dazu beitragen, dass das europäische Haus mit Leben erfüllt werde, dass die Bürgergesellschaft sich entfalte. Ein demokratisches und geeintes Europa ist es, dem Autoren und Herausgeber der Colloquia Baltica das Wort reden.

European Connections

European Connections: Studies in Comparative Literature, Intermediality and Aesthetics is a peer-reviewed series that publishes innovative research monographs, edited volumes as well as translations of key theoretical works. The series focuses on the literary and artistic relations that have shaped and continue to shape European cultures across national, linguistic and media boundaries, leading to vibrant new forms of artistic creation and aesthetic expression. It also wishes to explore relations with non-European cultures with a view to fostering more equitable models of cultural exchange and transfer. The series promotes comparative, intermedial and interdisciplinary approaches, whether studies of specific writers, filmmakers and artists; critical re-evaluations of historical periods (from the medieval to the ultra-contemporary) and movements; or wider theoretical reflections within the fields of comparative literature, intermediality studies and aesthetics. In light of the urgent need to revitalize the idea of Europe along new lines of thought, the series encourages research that explores the rich connections within European artistic and cultural production as well as the participation of European cultures in what the great philosopher of relation Édouard Glissant has called the Tout-monde. Judentum und Umwelt / Realms of Judaism

In the series Realms of Judaism, founded in 1979, research studies from the fields of Jewish history, culture, religion, literature, philosophy and philology are published. Although the research areas cover the times from Antiquity to Early Modernity, Pre-modern Judaism constitutes the main focus of the series. The geographical space encompasses the Near and Middle East and European Judaism likewise. The editors of the series are scholars with various specialisations within the area of Jewish studies. "In der seit 1979 erscheinenden Reihe Judentum und Umwelt werden aktuelle Studien aus den Teilbereichen Geschichte, Kultur, Religion, Literatur, Philosophie und Philologie des Judentums publiziert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Judentum der Vormoderne; die Forschungsgegenstände umfassen im Wesentlichen die Zeitbereiche von der Antike bis zur Frühen Neuzeit.
