The purpose of this series is to present innovative, in-depth, and provocatively critical literary and cultural investigations of critical issues in African American literature and life. We welcome critiques of fiction, poetry, drama, film, sports, and popular culture. Of particular interest are literary and cultural analyses that involve contemporary psychoanalytical criticism, new historicism, deconstructionism, critical race theory, critical legal theory, and critical gender theory.

MUSE: Munich Studies in English

Combining traditional strengths with an openness to innovation, this series offers monographs and essay collections ranging from studies in historical linguistics to analyses of Early Modern literature and beyond, as well as scholarly editions of medieval English and relevant Latin texts. Reflecting LMU Munich's strong track record in sound philological research, it is also open to literary and cultural studies – and to submissions from outside Munich. Its languages are English and German. The series was formerly known as Münchener Universitätsschriften. Die Reihe kombiniert traditionelle Stärken mit innovativer Öffnung: Sie bietet Monographien und Sammelbände, die thematisch von historischer Linguistik bis zur Literatur der frühen Neuzeit und darüberhinaus reichen, aber auch Editionen englischer mediävistischer oder einschlägiger lateinischer Texte. Der eingeführte Reihentitel stellt auf die anerkannte Stärke der Münchener anglistischen Philologie ab, doch ausdrücklich sind auch literatur- und kulturwissenschaftliche Untersuchungen willkommen – ebenso wie Arbeiten von außerhalb Münchens. Die Reihe erscheint in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Die Reihe wurde bisher unter dem Titel Münchener Universitätsschriften geführt.

The profiling and promotion of the characteristics of African theology and its independence constitute the intention of the editors of African Theological Studies. The series is open for monographs, anthologies and congress and conference proceedings from all branches of the discipline concerning African theology. Authors from Africa, Europe and, of course, other continents find here an excellent platform for their scientific works. English and French are the series languages. La série est ouverte aux monographies, anthologies, actes de colloques etc. de tous les secteurs de la théologie africaine. Des auteurs d'origine africaine ou européenne, mais aussi d'autres continents trouvent ici un excellent support pour la publication de leurs recherches scientifiques. Tous les textes seront revus par les éditeurs. C'est l'intention de cette série de développer les particularités de la théologie africaine et de contribuer à son autonomie. Contributions to English and American Literary Studies provides visibility for excellent work on English, American and Anglophone literatures. The series publishes monographs and thematically focused volumes by emerging as well as established scholars engaged in exploring literary writing from the early modern period to the present as a rich imaginary form of cultural, political, and intellectual analysis. Open to a variety of theories and methods, CEALS is dedicated to strengthening the scholarly discussion of literary texts and their interconnections with cultural and historical, transatlantic and global contexts. Pensée et perspectives africaines / African Thought and Perspectives

La collection « Pensée et perspectives africaines » a pour but de révéler, de manière critique, les différents aspects de la pensée africaine. Elle s’efforce, d’une part, de mieux faire comprendre celle-ci et, d’autre part, de dégager les voies à travers lesquelles l’Afrique peut se construire et contribuer à la construction du monde. La collection se préoccupe de stimuler et de faire connaître l’expérience noétique africaine dans ce qu’elle a de spécifique et d’universel. Elle promeut la recherche et la réflexion au sens le plus large. En créant les conditions d’une connaissance à la fois intime et critique des langues, cultures et arts d’Afrique, elle favorise la production d'oeuvres nouvelles. Elle accueille donc toute étude de littérature, anthropologie, histoire, philosophie, art, linguistique, etc., quelle que soit sa provenance, qui contribue à faire connaître la pensée africaine ou d’inspiration africaine. The series «African Thought and Perspectives» aims at a critical analysis of the various aspects of African thought. On the one hand, it focuses on a better understanding of African thought and, on the other, it endeavours to find out ways through which Africa can develop itself while contributing to the development of the world as a whole. The series presents the African intellectual experience in its specificity as well as in its universality. It will also promote research and reflection on African matters in the widest sense. By creating the conditions in which African languages, cultures and arts can be intimately and critically examined, it encourages the production of new works. It, therefore, particularly welcomes studies on literature, anthropology, history, philosophy, art or linguistics that contribute to a better knowledge of African – or African-inspired –thought.

In cooperation with the MLA International Bibliography, the editors of the “Medieval English Mirror“ series provide a forum for the Medieval English Studies Symposium held in Poznan (Poland) offering a wide range of contributions on English Language and Literatures. Topics include (among others) Old and Middle English language and literature, analyses of medieval English literature pertaining to cultural studies and a wide range of Middle English religious and secular discourse. Middle and Early Modern English Texts

This series is conceived to facilitate the edition of unpublished scientific treatises written in Late Middle English (late 13th century to the very early 16th century) as well as the publication of monographs dealing with their transmission, palaeographical and dialectal features, and/or their lexical, syntactic and pragmatic characteristics. The second aspect of the series seeks to favour studies specializing in linguistic variation or any of the multi-faceted aspects of the Middle English language even from a diachronic perspective. The Late Middle English Texts series is directed towards a wide scholarly readership that includes Textual Edition, Textual Criticism and Transmission – especially on electronic and digital formats both as standalone and online –, Ecdotics, History of Science, History of the English Language and Linguistics, Late Medieval Studies, History of Cultural Artifacts and Librarianship. The chronological scope we contemplate will range approximately from the mid 1200's to the early 1500's, and will include both manuscripts, incunabula and early prints that have come down to us in English, with the occasional excursion into analogues in other languages. Editions will include codicological and language studies that will enhance the relevance of the text within the cultural transmission European framework. The series includes both scholarly and academic editions and monograph studies with a specialised and comprehensive focus. Thematic and teaching textual anthologies will also be considered for the series. We do not aim primarily at publishing collected papers from conferences, symposia, meetings and other scholarly reunions, unless the occasion had a very relevant topic and was strongly coherent and specialised in its discussions. Each publication is subject to a rigorous blind double peer-review system that involves at least five readers from five different institutions (Universities or Research Institutes).
