The "Worlds of Portuguese Language" series encompasses different cultural domains related to the Portuguese language without restrictions of thematic, historical or geographical kind. The underlining notion of language is that of a space of deconstruction, conducive to a broader reflection on spatial and temporal correlations, forms of porosity, mobility and exchange within a broad thematic and disciplinary horizon. To promote interdisciplinarity for a global understanding of cultural phenomena is one of our main concerns. From intercultural and plurilingual heritage, and their embodiment of a certain idea of ​​translation, to visual and performing arts, the series welcomes reflections on the text in its different literary modes (whether lyrical, narrative or dramatic) and on inter-artistic approaches which bring together different semiotic systems. Questions arising from postcolonial and postdictatorial memory will put in perspective major research topics related to the representation of the physical and social body, migration and new approaches to pedagogy and teaching. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mundos de língua portuguesa é uma coleção que tem por vocação abordar os diversos domínios culturais em ligação com a língua portuguesa sem restrição temática, temporal ou geográfica. Mondes de langue portugaise est une collection qui a pour vocation d’aborder les divers domaines culturels en lien avec la langue portugaise sans restriction thématique, temporelle ou géographique. La langue est ici conçue comme espace de déconstruction, propice à une réflexion élargie sur les mobilités spatio-temporelles, les porosités, les échanges et les communications dans un large horizon thématique et disciplinaire. L’objectif est de valoriser l’interdisciplinarité pour une compréhension globale des phénomènes culturels. Les héritages interculturels et plurilingues, leurs rapports avec une idée de traduction sont abordés ainsi que les arts visuels et de la scène, le texte dans ses différents modes (lyrique, narratif, dramatique), en ouvrant sur une approche inter artistique qui comprend plusieurs systèmes sémiotiques. Studies in Biblical Hebrew

Studies in Biblical Hebrew is series of monographs designed to promote and publish topical research into the Hebrew of the Old Testament. The series does not assume that Biblical Hebrew is a form of the Aramaic languages (Canaanite) spoken from c. 1200 B.C. to c. 200 B.C., given standardized form only later and then perpetuated as a fixed literary medium. The focus of the series is specifically the corpus of the Old Testament, since the composition and compilation of these writings continue to generate major interest worldwide for reasons historical and academic, as well as religious. The series is devoted to fresh philological, syntactical, and linguistic study of the language of the Hebrew canon, with the subsidiary aim of displaying the contribution of such study to informed and accurate exegesis. Research into the broader evidence of the period, including inscriptional materials, is welcome, provided the results are cast in terms of their particular bearing upon Biblical (classical) Hebrew. Criminal Humanities & Forensic Semiotics

This series publishes monographs, anthologies, annotated literary editions, and comparative studies that critically engage the humanities as a locus for the study of criminal offending, criminal investigation, deviance, penology, and deterrence, as well as the epistemology of justice. We are especially interested in submissions with a strong interdisciplinary orientation and which lie at the crossroads of theory and practice. In other words, this series is foremost concerned with using artistic, literary, and multimedia texts, situations, and other products of the strictly non-investigative world as vehicles for exploring long-standing social and procedural issues of interest to both academia and the general public. By engaging a wide readership encompassing both scholars and practitioners, it is the intent of this series to breathe new life into the humanities and cultural studies, not to further alienate or obfuscate the scholarship done in these disciplines. For this reason, collaborations between authors representing academic institutions and those working in both private and public knowledge sectors, including government and specialized areas of law enforcement, are encouraged to collaborate with respect to this project. The series will publish studies and anthologies that explore the connection between fictional writing, movies, music, traditional electronic media, the Internet, and other domains of popular culture and how they have influenced the perception of crime and criminality. The synergy that exists between real crime (reality) and imagined criminality as manifesting itself through representations in writing and media is the primary focus of the series. We also welcome submissions that draw on any number of semiotic, linguistic, and comparative literature traditions, particularly those espousing new approaches to these fields and which allow key concepts to be unpacked within the framework of the criminal justice system, the forensic sciences, or other professions or institutions that serve the public interest.

Still-existing gaps in the current knowledge on Africa are an opportunity for collective scientific efforts: if formerly stable academic boundaries can be transgressed, then these lacunas may provide a good chance to advance with new interdisciplinary designs. English Corpus Linguistics

English Corpus Linguistics comprises studies that use a corpus-based methodology for the linguistic analysis of English-language real-world texts. The corpus methodology permits both synchronic and diachronic research. The outcomes may be primary linguistics research, or studies utilising concordancing tools to advance lexicographic, morphological or syntactic analyses. The series additionally supports academic study of the corpus methodology and the implementation of corpora in language teaching.

A modern phenomenon of the highest importance, sport raises a multitude of scientific questions. The collection Sports knowledge publishes original works in French and English across the spectrum of law, economics and social sciences. These subject areas correspond to the sectors of specialisation of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), to which the collection belongs. The collection is directed by Denis Oswald, Doctor of Law, CIES Director and Honorary Professor at the University of Neuchâtel, and Raffaele Poli, Doctor of Geography, head of the CIES Sports Observatory. La collection Savoirs sportifs publie des contributions originales en français et en anglais dans les champs des sciences juridiques, économiques et sociales du sport. ESCENA HISPÁNICA. Estudios de teatro español e hispanoamericano quiere ser un espacio de debate sobre el teatro tanto en España como en los países de la América hispana. La comprensión de teatro que fundamenta la colección es amplia y comprende todas sus dimensiones: desde el texto hasta la escenificación, pasando por las relaciones del teatro con otras artes y el papel que desempeña en la cultura hispánica. Además, la colección atenderá a otras manifestaciones escénicas y parateatrales que desbordan la noción tradicional de teatro como la danza, el circo, el cabaré, la sicalipsis, el teatro musical, etc. La colección publicará tanto monografías como volúmenes colectivos. La lengua prioritaria será el español, aunque se considerarán también propuestas para libros en otros idiomas de uso habitual en el ámbito académico.

Studies in Historical Linguistics

Studies in Historical Linguistics brings together work which utilises the comparative method of language study. Topics include the examination of language change over time, the genetic classification of language, lexicography, dialectology and etymology. Pronunciation, lexis, morphology and syntax are examined within the framework of historical linguistics. Both synchronic and diachronic approaches are used so that language is examined both at one time and across time. Historical Linguistics is still a young area of academic study, but it has its foundations in one of the oldest - philology. This series recognises both the seminal importance of philology, and the recent development through the conceptual framework provided by linguistic science.

Digital Learning and the Future

This interdisciplinary book series examines the use of digital technology in education. It is part of an unfolding educational agenda around technology-enhanced learning, where technology is both blended as a tool within existing pedagogies and drives new pedagogies. The series looks to the future, to emerging technologies and methodologies. Areas of interest include educational futures and future pedagogies, pedagogy and globalization (including MOOC), mobile learning, edtech, technology in assessment, the use of AI in education, and technology and face-to-face blended learning. The series encourages proposals for short-format books (between 25,000 and 50,000 words) with the aim of responding quickly to this rapidly changing field. Short monographs, co-authored or edited collections, case studies, practical guides and more are also all welcome.

This series provides an outlet for academic monographs which offer a recent and original contribution to linguistics and which are within the descriptive tradition. While the monographs demonstrate their debt to contemporary linguistic thought, the series does not impose limitations in terms of methodology or genre, and does not support a particular linguistic school. Rather the series welcomes new and innovative research that contributes to furthering the understanding of the description of language. The topics of the monographs are scholarly and represent the cutting edge for their particular fields, but are also accessible to researchers outside the specific disciplines. Contemporary Studies in Descriptive Linguistics is based at the School of English, University of St Andrews. The Literary and Cultural Stylistics subseries aims to explore the intersection of descriptive linguistics with the disciplines of literature and culture. The techniques of stylistic analysis offer a way of approaching texts both literary and non-literary as well as all forms of cultural communication. The subseries offers a home for this research, where literary criticism meets linguistics and where cultural studies meets communication. It welcomes a wide range of data sets and methodologies, with the intention that every book in the subseries makes a new contribution to the disciplines that support them.

Studies in the British Mesolithic and Neolithic

Studies in the British Mesolithic and Neolithic presents the results of fieldwork and excavation as well as works of interpretation from all perspectives on the British Neolithic revolution. Archaeological methodology is augmented where appropriate with interdisciplinary techniques, reflecting contemporary practice in the discipline. Throughout the emphasis is on work which makes new contributions to the debate about the transition between hunter gatherer and farming cultures during this pivotal stage in British prehistory. The series supports the archaeological community both in providing an appropriate forum for research reports as well as supporting interpretative work including cross-disciplinary research. It takes its inspiration from the work of the University of Buckingham’s excavations at Blick Mead in the Stonehenge World Heritage Site. Studies in the British Mesolithic and Neolithic is based at the Humanities Research Institute, University of Buckingham.

Studies in European Archaeology

This series will primarily focus on the publication of excavations which have occurred in Britain over the last twenty years, particularly those that have been developer-funded, which are of equal weight and significance as research excavations. This series is a broad-church archaeological series, primarily focussing on excavation reports of regionally or nationally significant sites (sometimes compiled with other sites sharing a common thread), but also a home for edited collections of academic papers, and individual academic theses. It is not limited to particular periods, as this is not the reality with many archaeological sites. The publication of «commercial» excavations is often inhibited for one reason or another. In some instances, this has primarily arisen through a lack of contact between commercial archaeologist and academic publishers. Local journals and regional publishers are often inundated with submission and are not able to accept new papers or have long waiting list. This series is unique, attractive in its flexibility and diversity, but also appealing in its mission and focus to bring to light nationally and internationally important excavations.

Global Literary Modernisms

The Global Literary Modernisms series provides a platform for literary scholarship on modernism across genres and geographies. The concept of the global today carries with it new ideas about time and historical development, as well as new theories about national literary traditions and new models of social belonging that extend beyond national borders. Without sacrificing our interest in national traditions, we invite studies that link those traditions to more extensive global and transnational contexts. The series also invites studies that reconsider the temporalities and formal and aesthetic praxes of modernism—not only its historical development, but the peculiar rhythms and pacing of its narratives, its dramatic literatures, its poetry, its song. While respecting the contemporary elasticity of the term, this series understands modernism not simply as a synonym for the ‘modern’ but as a movement that responds to the modern wherever it finds it. We invite English-language submissions on all aspects of literary modernism. Proposals are invited for monographs and edited volumes that engage transnational and postcolonial, canonical and marginal modernisms, and the legacies of modernism. We welcome single- and multiple-author studies from a variety of approaches and frameworks, literary-historical and/or theoretical.

New approaches and concepts deriving from Cognitive Sciences are brought into dialogue with classical issues in the study of culture, addressing the analysis of cultural and literary transfer and change. Books are published in English, Portuguese and German. Prior to publication, the quality of the work published in this series is reviewed by both editors of the series as well as by external referees. Die Reihe passagem bietet kulturwissenschaftliche Studien im Grenzbereich der Disziplinen zwischen Germanistik, Romanistik, Komparatistik und Geschichte, aber auch über die Grenzen der Geisteswissenschaften hinaus. Insbesondere Ansätze aus den Kognitionswissenschaften werden für die Kulturwissenschaften fruchtbar gemacht und damit auch ein weites Feld von Transferprozessen zwischen den Kulturen und Literaturen. With the advent of digitization, communication with and between machines increasingly plays a role in interpersonal interactions. What will the future look like: will algorithms become more important than argumentation? Will societal discussions and decisions be replaced by big data analyses? What role will social media play, and how will communication work there? Will we still be telling stories in the future, while algorithms will be writing history? In short, how will information technology, social robots and artificial intelligence alter our existing understandings of communication in the emerging digital age? This book series aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for both empirical and theoretical discussions of the relationship between language and digital culture. Book proposals are welcome and may be sent to either the editorial board or the publisher. The languages of publication are German and English. Mit der Digitalisierung tritt neben die zwischenmenschliche Interaktion zunehmend die Kommunikation mit und zwischen Maschinen. Doch wie wird die Zukunft aussehen: Werden Algorithmen wichtiger sein als Argumente? Werden soziale Diskussionen und Entscheidungen durch Big Data-Analysen ersetzt? Welche Rolle werden die Social Media spielen, und wie wird dort kommuniziert werden? Werden wir uns zukünftig zwar noch Geschichten erzählen, Algorithmen aber faktisch Geschichte schreiben? Leeds Studies on Dante

The book series Leeds Studies on Dante is a collaboration between Peter Lang Oxford and the Leeds Centre for Dante Studies. Based at the University of Leeds, the Centre promotes the study of Dante from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives, through support for individual and collaborative research and through work with students at all levels and with a broader public. In support of this remit, the series will publish innovative new research of the highest quality on any aspect of Dante studies. It is open to a wide range of different methodologies, including comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, studies of Dante's reception from the Middle Ages to the present, and research which engages with the poet's broader cultural context, as well as analysis of Dante's works. Proposals are welcomed for monographs or collections of essays in either English or Italian. Editions, commentaries and translations of exceptional scholarly value will also be considered. Potential contributors should send a detailed outline of their proposed volume, including a statement of the aims and remit of the volume and the critical methodology adopted, a chapter breakdown, and a sample chapter. In the case of edited volumes, editors are asked to send a paragraph outlining the cohesiveness of the volume and the rationale for the collection of essays. Complete manuscripts should not be sent unless invited. The series is supported by an international advisory board, including Zygmunt G. Bible in History focuses on biblical interpretation in different ages and countries and is a series dedicated to studies of biblical exegesis as well as to research about principles of interpretation relevant to interpreters of the Bible. The series is open to studies focusing on philological and theological aspects of particular Bible passages but it also welcomes publications in the field of history of biblical interpretation that study the development of new ideas and their impact on the interpretation of the text. Editions of textual variants as well as of influential old and modern commentaries are also within the scope of this series. Ayant pour but l'étude de l'interprétation biblique à travers les époques et dans des pays différents, la Bible dans l'Histoire est une collection consacrée à la recherche exégétique ainsi qu'à l'étude des principes qui déterminent la compréhension des commentateurs. Etant ouverte à l'exégèse biblique dans son aspect philologique et théologique, cette collection cherche par ailleurs à promouvoir les publications dans le domaine de l'histoire d'interprétation, ainsi que celles étudiant comment l'introduction des nouveaux principes a permis l'ajustement de l'ancien sens à la réalité d'aujourd'hui. Moving Texts / Testi mobili

Moving Texts/Testi mobili questions Italian memory and identity from the perspective of literary and media studies, providing a forum for discussions on major research topics, including migration and mobility studies, cultural studies, cultural memory studies, film studies, translation studies and studies on linguistic attitudes and sociolinguistic changes. Moving Texts/Testi mobili is open to research conducted within established and emerging fields of investigation. It specifically promotes multi-perspective, multi-disciplinary and inter-medial approaches. The series uses double-blind peer review and is supported by an international advisory board. Proposals in Italian, French or English are welcome both for the main series (monographs and edited volumes), and for Moving Texts/Testi Mobili – Tandem, the sub-series for conjoined essays by two different authors. Potential contributors are invited to submit a book proposal consisting of an outline, a sample chapter and a CV. Moving Texts/Testi mobili promuove approcci multiprospettici, multidisciplinari e intermediali provenienti da aree disciplinari e metodologiche di consolidata tradizione così come di recente affermazione. La serie sottopone le pubblicazioni a procedure di peer review e si avvale di un comitato di redazione internazionale. Possono essere inoltrate proposte per la serie madre, che accoglie monografie e opere collettanee, o per la serie Moving Texts/Testi Mobili – Tandem, ciascun volume della quale ospita una coppia di saggi congiunti ma di due autori diversi. Proposte in italiano, francese o inglese possono essere inviate al comitato di direzione dagli autori o curatori interessati. Ogni proposta deve includere una sintesi del volume, un capitolo di esempio e il CV dell’autore o del curatore. La collection offre un espace de discussion sur les principaux sujets de recherche, proposant des études sur les migrations et la mobilité, la culture, la mémoire culturelle, les films, les traductions ainsi que les attitudes linguistiques et les changements sociolinguistiques. Moving Texts/Testi mobili accueille des travaux consacrés aussi bien à des champs traditionnels qu'émergents. Elle soutient particulièrement les perspectives multiples, la pluridisciplinarité et les approches croisées entre différents médias. La collection pratique un peer-review en double aveugle et est soutenue par un conseil scientifique international. Les propositions en italien, français et anglais sont les bienvenues aussi bien pour la collection principale (monographies et volumes collectifs) que pour Moving Texts/Testi Mobili – Tandem, la nouvelle sous-collection accueillant des essais conjoints de deux auteurs. Nous invitons les auteurs potentiels à soumettre leur proposition en envoyant une synthèse, un chapitre d’exemple ainsi qu’un CV aux directeurs de collection. Anglo-Iberian Studies is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed book series that aims to showcase innovative research in the interdisciplinary field of Anglo-Iberian Studies. The collection provides a platform for comparative and critical scholarly work on historical, artistic, literary, cultural, scientific, commercial and religious relations between Portugal and Great Britain, Europe’s oldest allies (Anglo-Portuguese Studies), and between Spain and Great Britain (Anglo-Spanish Studies). The aim of the collection is to foreground areas of multidisciplinary connections between the Iberian Peninsula and Great Britain, as well as between Portuguese- Spanish- and English-speaking communities all over the world. We welcome proposals from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. The series publishes books in English, Portuguese and Spanish. We are especially interested in work that brings new intellectual impetus to recognized research areas.

L’Allemagne dans les relations internationales / Deutschland in den internationalen Beziehungen

Située au cœur de l’Europe, l’Allemagne occupe une position clé sur la scène internationale et représente un enjeu majeur pour ses voisins. C’est pourquoi cette collection entend rassembler des études portant sur la ou les Allemagnes dans ses rapports aux Autres du début du XXe siècle à aujourd’hui. Collection d’histoire et de relations internationales ouvertes aux disciplines proches à démarche historique, elle rassemble des ouvrages analysant les évolutions inter- et transnationales entre les États et les sociétés. Elle est ouverte aux approches comparées, croisées, connectées et aux processus d’échanges dans les champs politique, culturel, économique, scientifique, sociétal ou mémoriel. La collection s’articule principalement autour de monographies et d’ouvrages collectifs, éventuellement de l’édition scientifique de documents. Une attention spéciale sera accordée aux travaux des jeunes chercheurs et aux projets menés dans le cadre de coopérations franco-allemandes ou multilatérales. Les ouvrages s’adressent aux enseignants, chercheurs et étudiants, mais aussi à toutes celles et ceux qui s’intéressent à l’Allemagne contemporaine. Im Herzen Europas nimmt Deutschland eine Schlüsselstellung auf der internationalen Bühne ein und stellt zugleich eine Herausforderung für seine Nachbarn dar. Aus diesem Grund sollen in dieser Buchreihe Studien zu den Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland bzw. den beiden deutschen Staaten und anderen Staaten von Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bis heute herausgegeben werden. Diese Buchreihe konzentriert sich auf Themen aus dem Bereich Geschichte und internationale Beziehungen, ist jedoch auch offen für Nachbardisziplinen mit historischem Ansatz. Sie will Antworten auf Fragen nach inter- und transnationalen Beziehungen zwischen Staaten und Gesellschaften geben und fühlt sich den interaktionellen Ansätzen (Vergleich, Transfer, Verflechtung, Beziehung, Austausch) auf den Feldern Politik, Kultur, Wirtschaft, Politik, Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft und Erinnerung verpflichtet. Vorgesehen sind in dieser Reihe Monographien, Sammelbände und gegebenenfalls auch Quelleneditionen. Besondere Berücksichtigung finden Studien von Nachwuchsforschern und Arbeiten, die aus deutsch-französischen bzw. multilateralen Projekten hervorgegangen sind. Die Reihe richtet sich damit an Lehrende, Forscher und Studenten, aber vor allem an alle jene, die sich für das heutige Deutschland und seine Geschichte interessieren.

La « Chaire Glaverbel d’études européennes », créée dans le cadre de l’Institut d’études européennes de l’Université Catholique de Louvain, entend contribuer de manière significative à la formation et à la réflexion sur des thèmes centraux de la construction européenne. Son ambition est de mieux former les étudiants à la lecture de leur environnement économique, social, politique et culturel et de favoriser ainsi leur capacité d’adaptation dans un monde en mutation. Un volume annuel publie les articles émanant des professeurs et experts internationaux invités à l’occasion des conférences et cours organisés dans le cadre de la chaire en histoire, sociétés, civilisations, science politique, droit et économie, ainsi qu’une sélection des meilleurs rapports remis par les étudiants. Perspectives francophones

La collection Perspectives francophones se consacre à la recherche sur les littératures de langue française des xxe et xxie siècles. Fruit d’une collaboration universitaire entre spécialistes d’Allemagne, de France et d’ailleurs, elle fait se rencontrer différentes perspectives théoriques comme culturelles sur les textes et favorise le dialogue entre chercheurs expérimentés et jeunes chercheurs. Les volumes qui la composent sont guidés par l’idée qu’une approche transnationale permet de mieux cerner les lignes de convergence des écritures contemporaines et leurs évolutions esthétiques au fil d’une histoire littéraire au long cours. En misant sur la productivité de tels échanges, la collection ambitionne de renouveler nos modalités de lecture et de scruter depuis une perspective transversale les grands enjeux de la littérature d’aujourd’hui.
