The series provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion of aspects of a cultural science-oriented economics. Representations of economic relationships in literature and other arts, cultural sociological studies on the relationship between art, culture and economics, linguistics and literary analysis of economic narratives and metaphors, and the importance of cultural studies concepts such as fictionality and virtuality in the context of financial economics are topics of the series. Also, studies on the design and manipulation of spaces, time management and cultural practices are within its scope. Analysiert werden Aspekte des Medientransfers in historischer und kultureller Perspektive, wobei das Zusammenspiel von Literatur und Film (aber auch anderer medialer Kunstformen) auf seine medienästhetische Wirksamkeit hin befragt wird. Die deutsche Besiedlung weiter Teile Kroatiens seit dem Mittelalter hat nachhaltige sprachliche, literarische und kulturelle Spuren hinterlassen, die teilweise heute noch deutlich erkennbar sind, teilweise aber auch erst mühsam recherchiert werden müssen. In der Reihe, die im Rahmen einer vom DAAD geförderten Germanistischen Institutspartnerschaft (GIP) zwischen der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen und der Josip-Juraj-Strossmayer-Universität Osijek entstanden ist, werden einschlägige Forschungsarbeiten publiziert, die sich mit der Aufarbeitung dieses Themas auseinandersetzen. Studies on Themes and Motifs in Literature

The series is designed to advance the publication of research pertaining to themes and motifs in literature. The studies cover cross-cultural patterns as well as the entire range of national literatures. They trace the development and use of themes and motifs over extended periods, elucidate the significance of specific themes or motifs for the formation of period styles, and analyze the unique structural function of themes and motifs. By examining themes or motifs in the work of an author or period, the studies point to the impulses authors received from literary tradition, the choices made, and the creative transformation of the cultural heritage. The series will include publications of colloquia and theoretical studies that contribute to a greater understanding of literature.

British and Irish Studies in German Language and Literature Edited by H. S. Reiss and W. E. Yates This long-established series aims to publish works of serious scholarship drawn from the whole subject range of traditional Germanistik, originating both in Great Britain and in the Republic of Ireland, and readably written. Over fifty volumes have b een published since 1974. They include new books both by distinguished senior scholars and by younger researchers, collected essays either by single authors or by several hands (these have included papers emerging from conferences, often in both Eng lish and German) and selected doctoral dissertations reworked in book form. The weight of the series has mainly fallen on literature, theatre and cultural history from the eighteenth century onwards, in some cases with a strong comparative dimension.
