Phraseology in Academic L2 Discourse: The Use of Multi-words Units in a CMC University Context
The purpose of this study is to provide new insights into the use of phraseology by non-native speakers (NNS) of Italian. Reference to a nativelike selection (Pawley/Syder 1983) of multi-words units (MWUs) is generally considered essential for learners’ successful language processing, comprehension and use, and for a growth in their fluency. For the use of the terms multi-words units and phraseology, in this chapter I have followed Wray’s (2002: 9) broad definition:
