History, archaeology and modern cities along the coast. Knowing to conserve and enhance

Abstract. The aim of this essay is to reconstruct a Balkan geography, a summary of Eastern Adriatic architecture from Salvore to Dulcigno, from its origins to today. The research has verified this common architectural approach along the whole Adriatic coast and focused on the individual architectural typologies that reoccurred constantly, with necessary and evident peculiarities: battlements, leper hospitals, small houses, lighthouses, cities of salt and marine colonies from the early twentieth century.
