In order to achieve a long-term sustainable life, achieve above-average returns, increase their market share and to extend their success over the long term, companies steer their strategies into consideration, taking into consideration the internal and external environmental conditions, and many stakeholders, particularly competitors. Modern operational structures are becoming increasingly technology-intensive and the role of supply chains is becoming increasingly critical. In contrast to traditional strategies limited to local markets, global strategies aiming at globalization of inbound and outbound processes have been on the rise as a result of more supported supply chain processes with information technologies.

As the accelerated population increases in the world, the rise in consumer expectations and the global competition tendencies causes transformative effects on manufacturing activities. Accordingly, production volume is expected to increase in response to population growth, on the other hand there is an increasing competition for decreasing resources, and competitive trends are continuously increasing the cost pressures on enterprises. These pressures have a deep impact on the energy market. In spite of the innovations in generation technologies, the need for energy is increasingly exacerbated for many segments of the world due to increasing and diversified needs. On the other hand, due to the limited resources of the world, meeting these needs through sustainable methods becomes a basic necessity.
