The Situation of Women After Divorce in Turkey

Divorce is a phenomenon that troubles the unity of a family, causing its fragmentation and dissolution. Increasing the role of women in the working field brings socio-economic independency to women. Worldwide, human rights associations focus more and more on women’s rights. Furthermore, on one hand, this has a positive effect, and, on the other hand, it leads to some major problems such as the dissolution of a marriage with its legal manifestation, the divorce. Thus, the family faces a decrease of dependency between spouses which eventually leads to divorces.
