Berlin

Since it was founded in 1971, Peter Lang GmbH has been an institution in Germany's academic community. Core disciplines in the publishing programme include humanities and social sciences, together with law and economics.

Many of the series in our program, such as Kinder- und Jugendkultur, -literatur und –medien, or Romania Viva and Colloqia Baltica or Politische Kulturforschung, rank among the established forums in their disciplines. Some occupy outstanding positions in their fields, for example Rechtshistorische Reihe. In addition, the publishing program features journals, such as Mediaevistik. Internationale Zeitschrift für interdisziplinäre Mittelalterforschung.

All of our actions are driven by the will to meet the needs of editors and authors. We strive to offer them professional publishing services and to draw as much attention as possible to their work. That is why all publications at Peter Lang are produced in both hard copy and electronically – in all formats, suitable for all types of readers – to optimize access from around the world.

Editors and authors can decide themselves whether to publish in open access or to fund publication with the aid of sales proceeds: Peter Lang offers both models.

Our efforts focus on assuring content quality: every project is reviewed prior to publication. As the publisher, we support our editors with peer review procedures for their series.

The editors at Peter Lang have built up superb networks in their disciplines over the years through close ties to universities and non-university research institutions and membership in academic associations. Please refer to the list below to find the relevant contact for your discipline.

Interested in publishing with us? Please have a look at our editorial staff biographies below and email the appropriate editor. If you do not see your specific subject listed, please get in touch with one of our editors and your materials will be sent to the appropriate person.

Our project editors stay with you and your publication from the submission of your manuscript through to the publication of your work.

After manuscript submission, a comprehensive quality check is carried out; this includes the examination of the manuscript for orthographic correctness and formal uniformity, the technical analysis of the submitted image data and finally an iThenticate check.

In cooperation with you, cover and advertising texts are created for your book and advice is given on editorial services such as proofreading, editing, indexing and image processing. Of course, all other questions about your book will be answered!

At the end of this process, your manuscript is overseen by our Production team.
