The series presents a broad spectrum of research results from the field of education, encompassing contributions from Eastern European countries. In addition to educational science, the monographs and anthologies, written in German or English, explore topics from various disciplines such as sociology, philosophy, and political science. Up to volume 38, the series was published under the title "Baltische Studien zur Erziehungs- und Sozialwissenschaft / Baltic Studies in Educational and Social Sciences". Die Schriftenreihe bietet ein breites Themenspektrum von Forschungsergebnissen aus der Pädagogik - unter anderem auch aus osteuropäischen Ländern. History and Philosophy of Science

This series invites book proposals that include innovative strategies for pursuing history and philosophy of science. Especially welcome are scholarly works using non-analytic philosophical perspectives to successfully bring to bear on our understanding of how scientific practices are related to the humanities and the social sciences. The series also welcomes exploration of the sciences in relation to gender, culture, society, and the intellectual and social contexts that illuminate the places, the structures of origination, and the patterns of development over generations. Approaches may include focused analyses of thinkers from unorthodox perspectives that can shed new light on the history and philosophy of science, such as Montaigne, Bruno, Galileo, Newton, Pascal, Emerson, Thoreau, Nietzsche, Jung, Freud. Proposals aimed at probing the philosophical intersections between the sciences and other societal practices that can be configured as heretic are also encouraged. These might include the emergence of the psychoanalytic movements in the twentieth century, how the fine arts have impinged on the historical processes that gave rise to the sciences over the last few centuries, how in turn the intellectual frameworks inaugurated by the sciences have been imported into the avant-garde movements that paralleled the advent of industrialized societies, and finally how contemporary scientific domains of knowledge reverberate in ’deviant’ social and artistic practices.

«Regional Integration and Social Cohesion» (RISC) is an interdisciplinary and multilingual (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) series that examines the human and environmental impacts of regional integration, defined legally/politically (supranationalism), economically (globalization), socially (identity), and geographically (borders). The series aims to link global analysis of issues associated with social cohesion, such as market shifts, immigration, environmental risk and the deterioration of natural resources, human rights, violence and security, etc., with national and subnational studies that focus on political decision-making, the non-governmental sector and social participation in public debates, economic transformations, social marginalization, identity, etc. Thus, the series aims to combine the international, national and subnational arenas of politics in thematically-oriented research. While proposed case studies are welcome, the works presented in this series from all social science disciplines, are predominantly based on the comparative method. Studies that compare across geographic regions, defined continentally, are of particular interest. In addition to the scientific focus described above, this series aims to connect theoretical analysis of questions related to social cohesion with policy-based research. In doing so, it examines the role of political actors at different levels of regional integration processes and it studies citizen responses to changing opportunity structures in the economic, social and political spheres. Thus, the series attempts to shed light on contemporary shifts in the uses and types of power in policy-making processes. The issue of changes in how policies are being made is linked to: «who affects policy-making?» and «what impact do policies have in social and economic arenas?» « Intégration régionale et cohésion sociale » (RISC) est une collection interdisciplinaire et multilingue qui étudie les impacts humains et environnementaux qu’exerce l’intégration régionale, telle que définie légalement/politiquement (supranationalisme), économiquement (mondialisation), socialement (identité) et géographiquement (frontières). La collection cherche à mettre en relation d’une part l’analyse globale de problématiques associées à la cohésion sociale – les mouvements des marchés économiques, l’immigration, les enjeux écologiques, la préservation des ressources naturelles, les droits de l’homme, la violence et la sécurité, etc. – et d’autre part les études nationales et régionales/locales qui se centrent sur la prise de décision politique, le secteur non gouvernemental, la participation dans les débats publics, les transformations économiques, la marginalisation sociale, l’identité, etc. La collection cherche dès lors à combiner international, national et régional/local dans une perspective thématique. Si les études de cas y sont les bienvenues, on tentera cependant de privilégier les analyses comparatistes, dans le champ des sciences humaines, toutes disciplines confondues. Une attention toute particulière sera accordée aux études établissant des comparaisons entre continents. En outre, la collection souhaite relier l’analyse théorique de questions liées à la cohésion sociale à une recherche de type politique. Elle examine ainsi le rôle des acteurs politiques aux différents niveaux de l’intégration régionale et elle étudie la réaction des citoyens face aux mutations des structures économiques, sociales et politiques. RISC met dès lors en lumière les tendances contemporaines des usages et des types de pouvoir à l’œuvre dans les processus de prise de décision. La question de savoir comment les politiques sont élaborées est liée aux questions suivantes : « Qui peut influencer les politiques ? » et « quel est l’impact des politiques sur la scène politique et économique ? ».

This series focuses on encounters, conflicts and transformations from the 15th century to the present and beyond. It invites works from various disciplines of the social sciences and humanities that consider the adoption, development, or reconceptualization of basic social and cultural phenomena in the Middle East, as broadly conceived, at any time from the fifteenth century to the present, particularly in consideration of future implications. Cette collection vise à approfondir la réflexion sur les rencontres, les conflits et les transformations qui ont eu lieu au Moyen-Orient à partir du XVème siècle jusqu’au présent et même au-delà. Elle souhaite recevoir des propositions venant des sciences sociales et humaines prenant en consideration l’adoption, le développement ou la réélaboration de phénomènes sociaux et culturels fondamentaux dans l’aire du Moyen-Orient, conçu dans son acception la plus large, à n’importe quel moment de l’histoire entre le XVème siècle et l’âge contemporain avec une attention particulière à leurs futures implications.

Bi- and plurilingual – as well as migratory contexts – are particularly suitable for inquiries regarding belonging. This «Social Economy & Public Economy» series brings together books and monographs with a common focus: the analysis of the economic activities of formal and informal organisations that aim to serve the «public/general interest» or broad «common welfare» of their societies. Diverse initiatives and a wide variety of organisational forms are concerned: public or private nonprofit organisations and services, social services, public utilities, regulatory rules and actions, public enterprises, local community and regional economic development bodies, cooperatives, mutualist enterprises, etc. The series aims to promote a more scientific, and in-depth international and comparative understanding of this type of research that has been rapidly expanding in recent years. In Deutschland gilt Geiger als Begründer der Schichtungssoziologie als empirischer Gesellschaftswissenschaft. In seinen vielfältigen Werken in Dänemark vereinigte er systematische deutsche soziologische Tradition mit skandinavischer Rechtstradition und hat damit die dänischen und schwedischen Gesellschaftswissenschaften entscheidend geprägt. In his various works in Denmark he systematically united German sociological tradition with Scandinavian legal tradition. Thus he shaped Danish and Swedish social sciences decisively. The edition of Theodor Geiger’s complete works began in 2002. 31 Volumes in 7 domains of science are planned plus an additional index. 6 volumes have already been published. Studies on Culture, Technology and Education explores intersections and entanglements of the cultural studies, science and technology studies, contemporary philosophy and the studies on education. The series presents contemporary research in the interdisciplinary perspective in form of monographs and collected volumes. The publication language of the series is English and German. The series was formerly known as Comparative Studies on Education, Culture and Technology / Vergleichende Studien zur Bildung, Kultur und Technik and was edited by Tomasz Stępień. Until the publication of volume 21 the title of the series was "Polish Contemporary Philosophy and Philosophical Humanities". The series aspires to present a wide and relevant overview of best Polish works in philosophy and philosophical parts of the major fields of the humanities: political and social sciences, history, religious studies or what is named in Poland "the history of ideas". The subsequent editions of books within this series are either re-editions of the works previously published in non-Polish versions, or new translations from Polish. Some books contain extended works, other ones provide collections of smaller papers. Some of the authors presented in the series are widely acknowledged and regarded to be the "classics" of Polish intellectual life in the second half of the 20th Century, others are recognized as outstanding professors today. The quality and fame of the works and authors presented in the series are the only criteria for inclusion. The series is open to all streams of Polish philosophy: from analytical philosophy, through phenomenology and hermeneutics, to existential or religious philosophies. Also the word "philosophy" should be understood very widely in this case.

The Ius, Lex et Res Publica. Studies in Law, Philosophy and Political Cultures series explores a wide range of topics, especially within the Polish legal and socio-political framework. This new series of monographs focuses chiefly on topics related to current legal and socio-political tendencies, comparative studies, philosophical, legal, and political theory, psychology and sociology of law, and other subjects that would be of interest to law practitioners and scholars conducting research in the field of social sciences. Intending to promote interdisciplinary and multidimensional scholarship, the Ius, Lex et Res Publica series encourages an innovative approach to classical studies in national-oriented, European, and international matters. In addition, this series will seek to provide a high academic standard in addressing recent and fundamental legal, philosophical and socio-political problems.
