La collection des « Cahiers du Collège d'’’Europe » publie les résultats des recherches menées sur ces thèmes au Collège d'’’Europe, au sein de ses deux campus (Bruges et Varsovie). Focalisés sur l'Union européenne et le processus d'’’intégration, ces travaux peuvent être spécialisés dans les domaines des sciences politiques, du droit ou de l’'’économie, mais ils sont le plus souvent de nature interdisciplinaire. Repenser le cinéma / Rethinking Cinema

The main purpose of the «Rethinking Cinema» series is to provide film scholars as well as professionals from the audiovisual field with innovative research material in the field of film aesthetics, theory and history. Many areas of last century’s main attraction are still there to be rediscovered or have seldom been approached in the past. Consequently, priority is given to film concepts, genres, works or authors which have not been frequently dealt with. Conference proceedings, collections of essays, revised doctoral theses or monographs are published and have to distinguish themselves by a considerable degree of originality, audacity and scientific rigour, without neglecting the transdisciplinary and cross-cultural aspects related to different branches from the Humanities such as Art History, Philosophy or Linguistics. The series welcomes manuscripts written in French and/or in English as well as translations of noteworthy texts from other foreign languages. La collection « Repenser le cinéma » privilégie les approches novatrices, les analyses de concepts, de genres, de courants, d’auteurs et de films rarement étudiés, qu’il s’agisse d’actes de colloque, d’essais, de versions remaniées de thèses de doctorat ou encore de monographies. Elle se propose d’offrir aux chercheurs, aux enseignants de l’audiovisuel ainsi qu’aux professionnels du cinéma des pistes de réflexion inédites sur la théorie, l’histoire et l’esthétique d’un art qui recèle de multiples chantiers peu balisés au cours du siècle qui l’a vu naître. La démarche méthodologique adoptée au sein des travaux publiés doit faire preuve d’originalité, d’audace et de rigueur scientifique, tout en visant les corrélations transdisciplinaires et transculturelles avec d’autres domaines des sciences humaines (histoire de l’art, philosophie, linguistique, etc.). La collection accueille des ouvrages en français ou en anglais, des publications bilingues, ainsi que des traductions d’ouvrages étrangers difficilement accessibles.

Participation in Broadband Society

This series publishes peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes by internationally renowned scholars in the field of the social use of information and communication technologies (mass media included), communication studies and science and technology social studies. It provides an editorial space specifically dedicated to the collection of work that integrates new research regarding theoretical discourse, methodologies and studies from multiple disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, geography, linguistics, information science, engineering and more. The editors particularly welcome texts elaborating new theories, original methodological approaches and challenges to existing knowledge. Institutionelle und Sozial-Ökonomie / Institutional and Socio-Economics

"In the "Institutional and Socio-Economics" book series, the economy is studied as a genuinely social system of heterogeneous agents in an institutional context. The series includes a broad range of different methodological approaches, theoretical perspectives and subjects of study. Interdependencies among agents in complex social systems can be studied using evolutionary economic models, as well as institutional economic and simulation studies. Hence, the focus is being laid on approaches that are more explorative than the standard equilibrium analysis; on approaches that allow for complexity; on approaches that consider development, history, institutions, and values. Thus, we may conclude that institutions are more than just devices for the reduction of transaction costs. From an institutionalist perspective, institutions are the common and collective solutions to social decision problems, particularly social dilemma problems, coordination problems, and collective-good problems. Such solutions require ‘recognized interdependence’ and learned coordination and cooperation, thus a learned culture of a long-run perspective – emerging as the result of a process of interactions. Institutions often are transitory only, part of the ongoing dynamics, adequately modeled possibly as an evolutionary process. Also, they may be instrumental solutions to a social decision problem at first and may degenerate into ceremonial power-and-status-based phenomena later, thus limiting the possibility of further innovation and development. In a genealogy of economics, the thematic and methodological spectrum of this book series would embrace the history of thought beginning with the classics including great names such as Adam Smith and Karl Marx but also the late classics who already have struggled with issues like complexity, process, historical time, and evolution. In newer times, the spectrum continues with Veblenian, Keynesian, and Post-Keynesian thinking; it would also include works in the traditions of original institutionalist economics, ecological economics, Neo-Schumpeterian thinking, evolutionary economics, and game theory. Social economics and social policy analysis, behavioral economics, complex modeling, system dynamics, and agent-based computational economics would be embraced as well. Such lists, however, can never be exhaustive. Last not least, institutional and socio-economics deals with the epistemology and substance of values, norms and ethics, value warrants of economic behavior as well as the normative foundations of economics. This series, thus, stands in the best traditions of plural economic research areas and pluralistic theoretical perspectives. It may be called ’heterodox’, but it shall always be cutting-edge and of high quality. Enjoy exploring the works of this book series. Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature

The series will include original monographs as well as collective works and outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations (Habilitationsschriften) on various aspects of English Linguistics, English language teaching and language acquisition as well as literature in English. The Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature came into being in 2009 as a series published by Warsaw Division of the Lodz Academy of Management. Eight volumes have come out to date. In the area of Linguistics special emphasis will be laid on works on Historical English Linguistics, Congnitive Linguistics, Pragmatics and Text Linguistics as well as translation studies. Crystallization of human groups in order to constitute a place of citizenship is a complex phenomenon associating elements of identification and distinction: language, geographical origins, social classes, religion, political commitment. Many Voices

The literature of the Americas has a variety of cultural elements present under the general term "American." The canonical English mainstream of North America and the corresponding Spanish/Portuguese mainstream of South America have nevertheless reflected the arrival, assimilation, and marginality of numerous groups. Their experiences are both unique and representative of universal conditions of cultural contact and conflict. In both the United States and Canada, there are works which represent diverse aspects of the Black, Irish, Italian, Hispanic or Latino, Franco, German, Jewish, Portuguese, Greek, Slavic, and Asian communities, among others, as writers give both creative and testimonial form to the realities, both past and present of groups arriving subsequent to the original colonial period. In Latin America, some of these same groups are represented in the fiction written in Spanish and Portuguese. While this series focuses on specific ethnic groups and/or individual representatives, the fictional and poetic texts therein may address a range of issues, among them race relations, language and bilingualism, nationalism, colonialism, gender, class, cultural conflict, identity and maintenance, the context of multiculturalism. Critical approaches may include ethnocriticism, historical analyses, others, as well as structural critiques of these sorts of texts which by the very nature of their multiple focus become the aesthetic model for their content: a sort of border, mixed-blood, metis linguistic mode that in turn requires a double vision of its readers and critics. Critical approaches may include ethnocriticism, historical analyses, others, as well as structural critiques of these sorts of texts which by the very nature of their multiple focus become the aesthetic model for their content: a sort of border, mixed-blood, metis linguistic mode that in turn requires a double vision of its readers and critics. The literature of the Americas has a variety of cultural elements present under the general term "American." The canonical English mainstream of North America and the corresponding Spanish/Portuguese mainstream of South America have nevertheless reflected the arrival, assimilation, and marginality of numerous groups. Their experiences are both unique and representative of universal conditions of cultural contact and conflict. In both the United States and Canada, there are works which represent diverse aspects of the Black, Irish, Italian, Hispanic or Latino, Franco, German, Jewish, Portuguese, Greek, Slavic, and Asian communities, among others, as writers give both creative and testimonial form to the realities, both past and present of groups arriving subsequent to the original colonial period. In Latin America, some of these same groups are represented in the fiction written in Spanish and Portuguese. While this series focuses on specific ethnic groups and/or individual representatives, the fictional and poetic texts therein may address a range of issues, among them race relations, language and bilingualism, nationalism, colonialism, gender, class, cultural conflict, identity and maintenance, the context of multiculturalism. Of German origin Ferdinand von Mueller migrated to Australia in 1847. Government Botanist of Victoria for 43 years until his death in 1896, he was Australia's greatest scientist of the 19th century – a major contributor to international science, an intrepid explorer of parts of Australia previously unknown to Europeans, and a dominant figure in the scientific and intellectual life of his adopted country. Vampire Studies: New Perspectives on the Undead

Vampires are everywhere. Appearing on streaming services, in book series and on multimedia platforms, vampires and the undead are an integral part of popular culture in the twenty-first century. But vampires have a long and varied history across cultures from at least the early eighteenth century onwards. Nina Auerbach once commented on their cultural ubiquity: ‘Every age embraces the vampire it needs, and gets the vampire it deserves’. The inherently transformative properties of vampires have made them uniquely able to reflect the age in which they appear. As a result, they provide original and multiple perspectives, not just on culture, but on established and emerging areas of study. Vampires and the undead serve as a useful lens for exploring Indigeneity, environmental studies and the ecogothic; identity, ethnicity and gender politics; material culture, spectatorship and fan cultures; hybridity, post-humanism and futurities; disability, mental health and ageing studies; and theology, philosophy and politics. These new territories and methodologies of vampire studies also retroactively shift the ways we view and understand earlier iterations of the undead and the different cultures they materialized from. In this first book series dedicated to vampire studies, authors will explore the ongoing evolution of vampires and the undead in the broadest sense – including the supernatural, super-human and non-human, and across cultures, histories and media – and will use new theoretical frameworks to offer original and innovative readings of established and more recent texts. This original series aims to provide a focused hub for the diverse and often dispersed body of study that sees the vampire and the undead not as a subgenre of other categories such as the Gothic or horror, but as a genre in its own right that intersects with others. An important dimension of the series is diversity and the inclusion of multiple cultural and minority perspectives, including LGBTQ+, disability, Indigeneity, and any approaches that encourage new ways of viewing the cultural impact of vampires and the undead and widen our understanding of an ever-expanding genre. Ralahine Utopian Studies

Ralahine Utopian Studies is the publishing project of the Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies at the University of Limerick in association with the University of Bologna, the University of Cyprus, the University of Florida and the University of Maine. The series publishes high-quality scholarship that addresses the theory and practice of utopianism (including Anglophone, continental European and indigenous and postcolonial traditions, and contemporary and historical periods). Publications (in English and other European languages) include original monographs and essay collections (including theoretical, textual and ethnographic/institutional research), English-language translations of utopian scholarship in other national languages, reissues of classic scholarly works that are out of print and annotated editions of original utopian literary and other texts (including translations). While the series editors seek work that engages with the current scholarship and debates in the field of utopian studies, they will not privilege any particular critical or theoretical orientation. They welcome submissions by established or emerging scholars working within or outside the academy. Given the multilingual and interdisciplinary remit of the series, the editors especially welcome comparative studies in any disciplinary or transdisciplinary framework.

European Semiotics originated from an initiative launched by a group of researchers in Semiotics from Denmark, Germany, Spain, France and Italy and was inspired by innovative impulses given by René Thom and his «semiophysics». The goal of the series is to provide a broad European forum for those interested in semiotic research focusing on semiotic dynamics and combining cultural, linguistic and cognitive perspectives. This approach, which has its origins in Phenomenology, Gestalt Theory, Philosophy of Culture and Structuralism, views semiosis primarily as a cognitive process, which underlies and structures human culture. Semiotics is therefore considered to be the discipline suited par excellence to bridge the gap between the realms of the Cognitive Sciences and the Sciences of Culture. The series publishes monographs, collected papers and conference proceedings of a high scholarly standard. Languages of publication are mainly English and French. Sémiotiques européennes est le résultat d'une initiative prise par un groupe de chercheurs en sémiotique, originaires du Danemark, d'Allemagne, d'Espagne, de France et d'Italie, inspirée par l'impulsion innovatrice apportée par René Thom et sa «sémiophysique». Le but de cette collection est de fournir une large tribune européenne à tous ceux qui s'intéressent à la recherche sémiotique portant sur les dynamiques sémiotiques, et réunissant des perspectives culturelles, linguistiques et cognitives. New International Insights/Nouveaux Regards sur l’International

In tribute to the late founder of the collection, Eric Remacle, the editors have proposed to call this book series New　International Insights. The novelty thus pursued consists of inviting prospective authors also to view the situations, case-studies and dynamics they analyse and conceptualise as innovative in an increasingly multipolar world order, more than as a mere continuation of past evolutions and theories. This is the approach characterising the editors' own research. Over a quarter of a century after the end of the cold war, Eurasian as well as Transatlantic, Asian-Pacific and pan-American constant innovations question most analytical conclusions almost as soon as they are reached. Yet, there is a need for theory. Examples would exceed the scope of this short presentation but a worthwhile illustration can be suggested : the turning point whereby an already innovative, sino-postsoviet Asia has proven capable, while still in its affirmative stage, to engage South Asia and construct a China-Russia-India triangle that offsets or even jeopardises most existing visions of Asia, notably neo-realist ones. Traditional visions thus yield to contemporary uncertainties. While non-State actors are still causing States to wither, withdraw or falter, new transnational and even transcontinental constructions are bringing States back in, however much around different objectives : logistical and commercial, while military cooperation appears a dated and questionable form of security enforcement. New　International Insights aims at balancing book publications among authors of all intellectual origins, western as well as eastern, northern as well as southern. Only in this manner can it hope to take the vision of its early founders one step further. A post-modern world needs post-western epistemology in order to wield its new meaning. Manuscripts in political science and social sciences are encouraged for submission, preferably in English, not exceeding 650 000 signs. En hommage au fondateur de l’ancienne collection Regards sur l’international, Eric REMACLE, les éditeurs ont proposé de le renommer New International Insights. Leur objectif consiste à inviter les auteurs potentiels à considérer les situations, les études de cas et les dynamiques qu'ils souhaitent analyser et conceptualiser comme innovantes dans un ordre mondial de plus en plus multipolaire, plus que comme une simple continuation des évolutions et des théories passées. C'est l'approche qui caractérise les propres recherches des éditeurs. Plus d'un quart de siècle après la fin de la guerre froide, les innovations constantes eurasiennes, transatlantiques, asiatiques-pacifiques et panaméricaines remettent en question les conclusions les plus analytiques presque aussitôt qu'elles ont été formulées. Pourtant, il y a un besoin de théorie. Les exemples dépasseraient le cadre de cette brève présentation, mais une illustration valable peut être suggérée: le tournant par lequel une Asie sino-post-soviétique déjà innovante s'est révélée capable, tout en étant au stade de sa première affirmation, d’engager l'Asie du Sud et de construire une relation triangulaire Chine-Russie-India qui bouscule, voire remet en question la plupart des visions existantes de l’Asie, notamment les visions néoréalistes. Les visions traditionnelles cèdent ainsi aux incertitudes contemporaines. Alors que les acteurs non-étatiques provoquent toujours le recul, le retrait ou le trébuchement des États, de nouvelles constructions trans-nationales et même trans-continentales, font «　revenir　» les États, même si c’est autour d’objectifs différents: logistiques et commerciaux, tandis que la coopération militaire apparaît comme une forme datée et remise en question de mise en œuvre de la sécurité . New International Insights vise à équilibrer les publications de livres d'auteurs de toutes origines intellectuelles, occidentales et orientales, d’auteurs du Nord et du Sud. Ce n’est qu’ainsi que l’on pourra espérer faire avancer la vision de ses premiers fondateurs. Un monde post-moderne a besoin d’une épistémologie post-occidentale pour dévoiler sa nouvelle signification. Les manuscrits en science politique et en sciences sociales sont invités à être soumis, de préférence en anglais, n'excédant pas 650 000 signes, notes et annexes comprises.

As indicated by its name, this series is devoted to the interpretation of ancient Greek and Latin texts. It accommodates not only studies of special subjects and individual authors, but also annotated editions as well as commentaries. In the tradition of critical scholarship the collection is uncompromisingly philological without however excluding new approaches and methods of exegesis. Each of the volumes represents independent and original research which contributes to the understanding of ancient texts whether in the form of critical exposition or the investigation of specific problems. It is in this sense that they genuinely further the discipline of classical philology. At the same time the series welcomes studies of the reception and influence of ancient texts including in particular the history of their transmission as well as the historical development of philology in its various aspects. In order to reach as wide a readership as possible, publication is restricted to works written in those languages most commonly in use in classical scholarship. Special importance is attached to clear presentation and a choice of language that can be readily understood. Authors are moreover encouraged to provide translations wherever they would aid comprehension. Ultimately Sapheneia should not only advance classical studies,but also deepen our understanding of the intellectual tradition of the western world. Victorian and Edwardian Studies

The series focuses primarily on subjects, works and authors of Victorian and Edwardian literature in light of an interpretation of the lines of epistemic continuities/discontinuities involved in the historical notion of “the long nineteenth-century” (1789–1914). While promoting new critical perspectives in the field of Victorian textual production (from literature to visual arts, from scientific works to popular press), the series also aims to publish interdisciplinary works which consider the ideological and sociocultural implications of the radical transformation in Victorian society. The publications in the series originate mainly from research work conducted at the CUSVE (Centre for Victorian and Edwardian Studies – University of Pescara, Italy) but the series is open to contributions originating outside the CUSVE. It publishes monographs, collections of essays, conference proceedings and doctoral dissertations. The language of publications is both English and Italian.
