La collection Doctorats, sciences et carrières publie des ouvrages en anglais et en français en vue de nourrir le débat international sur les conditions de la recherche et de la formation à la recherche, l’expérience des chercheur∙e∙s, l’insertion professionnelle des docteur∙e∙s, le genre et la science, les instruments de régulation et leurs effets sur les pratiques et cultures scientifiques. D’autres problématiques émergentes sont susceptibles d’être étudiées dans les publications de cette collection. En effet, la Science, par ses contributions, découvertes, risques et espoirs, fait l’objet d’une forte attention publique et de nombreux débats tant à une échelle nationale qu’internationale. Au début du XXIe siècle, s’observe une préoccupation grandissante pour l’expérience de la formation doctorale et du travail scientifique ainsi que pour les conditions de leur réalisation. Le devenir professionnel des chercheur∙e∙s est également en mutation, en raison de la croissance rapide du nombre de doctorant∙e∙s et de postdoctorant∙e∙s, de la féminisation des carrières académiques (certes toujours singulièrement limitée), et de la transformation de la régulation de la Science et des universités. À travers des thématiques variées et des angles disciplinaires différents (histoire, droit, gestion, psychologie, sociologie, éducation…), cette collection vise à accueillir ces résultats de recherche et, ce faisant, à alimenter la réflexivité du monde de la recherche sur lui-même.

The series accepts submissions in German or English across the full spectrum of scholarship, ranging from doctoral dissertations and monographs to anthologies and collected essays. This is a series of monographs designed to provide access to research at the cutting-edge of current Patristic Studies. The Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature came into being in 2009 as a series published by Warsaw Division of the Lodz Academy of Management. Eight volumes have come out to date. In the area of Linguistics special emphasis will be laid on works on Historical English Linguistics, Congnitive Linguistics, Pragmatics and Text Linguistics as well as translation studies. Sport, History and Culture

This series publishes monographs, edited collections and reprints of classic studies on the history and the contemporary role of sport, primarily in Britain and Europe but including other parts of the world. The editors wish to make available the very best of recent doctoral and post-doctoral work in the subject area whilst also looking to established scholars for major new books or collections of articles. Although the focus of the series is historical, it also embraces more contemporary interdisciplinary studies of the role of sport as a local, national and global phenomenon. The series includes both new and established areas of research into the class, age and gender dimensions of sport as well as its political and ideological aspects, including nationalism, imperialism and post-colonialism. The editors wish to encourage economic and transnational studies of sport as well as new work on ethnicity, sports literature and material culture. The series will also reflect on the significance for the writing of sports history of new cultural and theoretical debates. Genuinely international in approach, the series also seeks to publish English translations of some of the most outstanding scholarship on the history and culture of sport in Europe, South America and beyond. The series aims to act as a focus for the historical study of sport internationally and facilitate interdisciplinary debate on the subject.

Eastern European Studies in Musicology

This publication series was established with the aim of spreading the leading achievements of Polish, Central and Eastern European musicologists active in various fields of musicology. These fields include music history and musical traditions, ethnomusicology and musical anthropology, as well as music sociology, aesthetics and philosophy. The series will feature different genres: monographic works, collections of essays, articles and dissertations by a single author, as well as collective works and scientific conference proceedings. The editorial team will be working not only with renowned scholars but also young post-doctoral authors. Authors who arrive at music from different fields of the humanities in the context of interdisciplinary studies are also encouraged.

Victorian and Edwardian Studies

The series focuses primarily on subjects, works and authors of Victorian and Edwardian literature in light of an interpretation of the lines of epistemic continuities/discontinuities involved in the historical notion of “the long nineteenth-century” (1789–1914). While promoting new critical perspectives in the field of Victorian textual production (from literature to visual arts, from scientific works to popular press), the series also aims to publish interdisciplinary works which consider the ideological and sociocultural implications of the radical transformation in Victorian society. The publications in the series originate mainly from research work conducted at the CUSVE (Centre for Victorian and Edwardian Studies – University of Pescara, Italy) but the series is open to contributions originating outside the CUSVE. It publishes monographs, collections of essays, conference proceedings and doctoral dissertations. The language of publications is both English and Italian.

British and Irish Studies in German Language and Literature Edited by H. S. Reiss and W. E. Yates This long-established series aims to publish works of serious scholarship drawn from the whole subject range of traditional Germanistik, originating both in Great Britain and in the Republic of Ireland, and readably written. Over fifty volumes have b een published since 1974. They include new books both by distinguished senior scholars and by younger researchers, collected essays either by single authors or by several hands (these have included papers emerging from conferences, often in both Eng lish and German) and selected doctoral dissertations reworked in book form. The weight of the series has mainly fallen on literature, theatre and cultural history from the eighteenth century onwards, in some cases with a strong comparative dimension.

Studies in Modern German and Austrian Literature is a broadly conceived series that aims to publish significant research and scholarship devoted to German and Austrian literature of all forms and genres from the eighteenth century to the present day. The series promotes the analysis of intersections of literature with thought, society and other art forms, such as film, theatre, autobiography, music, painting, sculpture and performance art. It includes monographs on single authors or works, focused historical periods, and studies of experimentation with form and genre. Wider ranging explorations of literary, cultural or socio-political phenomena in the German-speaking lands or among writers in exile and analyses of national, ethnic and cultural identities in literature are also welcome topics. Proposals are invited for monographs, high-quality doctoral dissertations revised for book publication, focused collections of essays (including selectively edited conference proceedings), annotated editions and bibliographies. Senior figures in the academic profession as well as early career or independent scholars are encouraged to submit proposals. All proposals and manuscripts will be peer reviewed. We publish in both German and English. This series is a successor to Studies in Modern German Literature, edited by Peter D.G. Brown.

The «Cuadernos de Yuste» series collects the multilingual and cross-disciplinary contributions from the summer doctoral seminars organized by the European Academy of Yuste Foundation on European issues related to those linked to the work carried out by winners of the «Charles V European Award», given every two years. The seminars are coordinated by members of the Economic Governance and European Identity network, which gather German, Belgian, Spanish, French and Italian scholars who are joined by experts on the matters of discussion. The seminars welcome doctoral students, who may thus compare their current research, benefit from quality supervision and contact researchers from previous seminars that constitute the «Alumni from Yuste European Network». The series is open to other collective or monographic works - in German, English, Spanish and French -, that deal with issues studied in previous publications, such as Socio Economic Governance and European Identity; Relations between Europe and Russia in the 19th and 20th Centuries; Portugal and Spain in 20th Century Europe, Translation and Interpretation, or with topics that will be studied in forthcoming seminars. « Cuadernos de Yuste » accueille les actes multilingues et pluridisciplinaires des séminaires doctoraux d’été organisés par la Fundación Academia Europea de Yuste sur des thèmes européens liés à ceux qui marquent l’action des lauréats du prestigieux « Prix européen Charles Quint » qu’elle décerne tous les deux ans. In der mehrsprachigen «Cuadernos de Yuste» werden die Ergebnisse der von der Stiftung Europäische Akademie Yuste veranstalteten Sommer-Doktorandenseminare veröffentlicht. Diese interdisziplinären Studien stehen im Zusammenhang mit Leben und Werk der Preisträger des «Karl V. Europa-Preises», welcher in zwei-Jahres-Abständen verliehen wird. Die Seminare werden koordiniert von Mitgliedern des Forschungsnetzwerkes «Socio Economic Governance and European Identities», in dem Forscher aus Belgien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien und Spanien vereinigt sind. Zusätzlich werden zu den Seminaren gezielt einschlägig arbeitende Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler eingeladen. So können im Rahmen der Sommerseminare Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden aus ganz Europa ihre Forschungserkenntnisse präsentieren und mit etablierten Forschern sowie mit Teilnehmern vorangegangener Seminare diskutieren. Repenser le cinéma / Rethinking Cinema

The main purpose of the «Rethinking Cinema» series is to provide film scholars as well as professionals from the audiovisual field with innovative research material in the field of film aesthetics, theory and history. Many areas of last century’s main attraction are still there to be rediscovered or have seldom been approached in the past. Consequently, priority is given to film concepts, genres, works or authors which have not been frequently dealt with. Conference proceedings, collections of essays, revised doctoral theses or monographs are published and have to distinguish themselves by a considerable degree of originality, audacity and scientific rigour, without neglecting the transdisciplinary and cross-cultural aspects related to different branches from the Humanities such as Art History, Philosophy or Linguistics. The series welcomes manuscripts written in French and/or in English as well as translations of noteworthy texts from other foreign languages. La collection « Repenser le cinéma » privilégie les approches novatrices, les analyses de concepts, de genres, de courants, d’auteurs et de films rarement étudiés, qu’il s’agisse d’actes de colloque, d’essais, de versions remaniées de thèses de doctorat ou encore de monographies. Elle se propose d’offrir aux chercheurs, aux enseignants de l’audiovisuel ainsi qu’aux professionnels du cinéma des pistes de réflexion inédites sur la théorie, l’histoire et l’esthétique d’un art qui recèle de multiples chantiers peu balisés au cours du siècle qui l’a vu naître. La démarche méthodologique adoptée au sein des travaux publiés doit faire preuve d’originalité, d’audace et de rigueur scientifique, tout en visant les corrélations transdisciplinaires et transculturelles avec d’autres domaines des sciences humaines (histoire de l’art, philosophie, linguistique, etc.). La collection accueille des ouvrages en français ou en anglais, des publications bilingues, ainsi que des traductions d’ouvrages étrangers difficilement accessibles.

Nobody disputes the modern relevance of Marguerite Yourcenar’s work. Back in 1981, when she was the first woman to be elected to the Académie Française, her work was received enthusiastically, rather deferentially even; there was something of an aura surrounding it with the media attention her election attracted. But this time is now past and more recent research activity has taken a new turn, with critical attention focusing on Yourcenar’s roots in her own century. The study of traditional major themes – death, the sacred, nature, history etc. – has given way to the study of more comparative, theoretical issues such as the relationship between text and images, and more incisive issues such as ecology, gender, political activism etc. And her work seems to expand accordingly, offering up a seemingly inexhaustible supply of subject matter, not only through her novels but also through her novellas, her many essays, plays, letters and so on. The primary objective of the «Yourcenar» series is to publish monographs, collected volumes, conference proceedings and volumes resulting from doctoral research which will give our intended public of academics and Yourcenar devotees a regularly updated idea of the state of the art in the field. Cross-disciplinary approaches are encouraged. The intention is to publish two volumes per year, in either English or French. The collection is directed by Francesca Counihan (Maynooth University) and Bérengère Deprez (Université catholique de Louvain). L’actualité de l’œuvre de Marguerite Yourcenar ne fait aucun doute. Passé un moment de réception enthousiaste et plutôt déférente de ses écrits, auréolés et très médiatisés par son admission comme première femme à l’Académie française en 1981, il semble que la recherche ait pris un virage vers la critique attentive de l’enracinement de l’écrivaine dans son siècle. À l’examen des grands thèmes comme la mort, le sacré, la nature, l’histoire, etc., ont succédé des questions plus comparatistes, plus théoriques telles le rapport texte/image ou plus incisives telles l’écologie, la dimension de genre, l’engagement politique, etc. Et l’œuvre répond présente : la matière semble inépuisable, non seulement les romans mais les nouvelles, les nombreux essais, le théâtre, la correspondance, etc. La collection « Yourcenar » a pour ambition de présenter à un public universitaire académique ou non, ainsi qu’aux nombreux passionnés de l’œuvre de Marguerite Yourcenar, un état des lieux régulier de la recherche, par la publication de monographies, de volumes collectifs, d’actes de colloques et d’essais issus de thèses de doctorat. Elle encourage les points de vue transdisciplinaires. L’objectif de publication est de deux volumes par an, en français ou en anglais. But this time is now past and more recent research activity has taken a new turn, with critical attention focusing on Yourcenar’s roots in her own century. The study of traditional major themes – death, the sacred, nature, history etc. – has given way to the study of more comparative, theoretical issues such as the relationship between text and images, and more incisive issues such as ecology, gender, political activism etc. And her work seems to expand accordingly, offering up a seemingly inexhaustible supply of subject matter, not only through her novels but also through her novellas, her many essays, plays, letters and so on. The primary objective of the «Yourcenar» series is to publish monographs, collected volumes, conference proceedings and volumes resulting from doctoral research which will give our intended public of academics and Yourcenar devotees a regularly updated idea of the state of the art in the field. Cross-disciplinary approaches are encouraged. The intention is to publish two volumes per year, in either English or French. The collection is directed by Francesca Counihan (Maynooth University) and Bérengère Deprez (Université catholique de Louvain).

The work of Marguerite Duras has become one of the most popular subjects of academic research, achieving enormous global reach. Her work crosses many genres (novels, theatre, films, journalism, interviews, short texts), and she attracted the interest of important contemporary thinkers such as Lacan, Foucault and Blanchot. As well as having a unique style and the power to fascinate, Duras was politically active and became an important witness of her time. These are the reasons why she is considered to be one of the most significant writers of the 20th century. This series aims to give academics and the large number of Duras fans the chance to explore a wide range of high-quality research generated by her work. This is made possible with the publication of monographs, collections of essays, conference notes and texts from doctoral research. The series encourages cross-disciplinary views and aims to be a major platform for dialogue on the different approaches to research on Marguerite Duras. La recherche scientifique autour de l’œuvre de Marguerite Duras est l’une des plus actives et l’une des plus étendues de par le monde. For several decades now, our attention has been drawn to expanding agricultural output and the proliferation of powerful food companies. At the same time, in the process of European integration, the adoption of the Codex Alimentarius (1963), the Food Law (2002), and the recognition of PGIs for many products have contributed to the creation of a common European "food space". Today, these systems of supply and distribution have between them given Europeans quite varied dietary possibilities. This situation stems from various developments, linking the economic to the technical and amounting to a long-term trend. Cultural issues bear upon this, whether culinary transmission from generation to generation or the increasingly diverse catering sector, and political decisions also contribute through the establishment of standards and regulations. Hence, traditions and ruptures, innovations and continuities are permanently unsettling the European diet. Using original sources, doctoral theses, conference papers, monographs and testimonies, this series examines historical developments at the national scale and also, more generally, in a transnational perspective. The series hopes to make a significant contribution to understanding the processes of food innovation, which are powerful factors of difference and identity in contemporary Europe. All volumes in this series passed a selection process that included double blind peer-review. Le développement des rendements agricoles et la croissance de puissantes industries agroalimentaires ont focalisé l’attention depuis plusieurs décennies. Dans le processus de construction européenne, l’adoption du Codex alimentarius (1963), la Food law (2002) et la reconnaissance des IGP sur de nombreux produits contribuent désormais à unifier un espace alimentaire communautaire. Les Européens disposent de moyens d’approvisionnement et de distribution variés pour constituer leur alimentation. Cette situation procède d’évolutions plurielles, liant l’économique et le technique, et s’inscrit en fait dans la longue durée. Des enjeux culturels y sont associés, qu’il s’agisse de transmissions culinaires générationnelles ou de l’offre de restauration très diversifiée. Des choix politiques y contribuent également, par la mise en place de normalisations et de règlements. Traditions et ruptures, nouveautés et continuités bouleversent en permanence l’alimentation des Européens. Par des recueils de sources, des thèses, des actes de colloques, des monographies érudites et des témoignages, cette collection interroge les évolutions historiques et sociétales, par pays ou plus globalement dans une perspective transnationale. Elle souhaite apporter une connaissance sur des processus d’innovations alimentaires qui constituent de puissants facteurs de différences et d’identités mêlées de l’Europe contemporaine. Tous les volumes de cette collection sont publiés après double révision à l'aveugle par des pairs.

En las tres últimas décadas, la investigación terminológica ha experimentado una diversificación sin precedentes, tanto en lo que se refiere a sus temas como a sus métodos y resultados. Confinada durante mucho tiempo al ámbito de las ciencias y técnicas de la ingeniería, con una marcada orientación hacia las cuestiones de normalización, se ha convertido en un campo interdisciplinar en la encrucijada de las ciencias del lenguaje, las ciencias de la información y la comunicación, las ciencias cognitivas y la Inteligencia Artificial. Socioterminología, etnoterminología, ontoterminología, terminología pragmática, terminología diacrónica, terminología cognitiva, terminología empresarial, terminología y divulgación científica, terminología e impacto social de la investigación, etc., son algunas de las muchas denominaciones y/o enfoques que muestran hasta qué punto se exploran hoy en día los términos y las terminologías como "puerta de entrada" a los dominios, la internacionalización, los ámbitos profesionales, el marketing, etc. La colección Terminologías plurales pretende ser un foro de intercambio científico abierto a esta pluralidad de enfoques y está destinada a acoger monografías (sean o no fruto de tesis doctorales o otras) o volúmenes colectivos (incluidas las publicaciones resultantes de congresos, siempre que hayan sido objeto de un trabajo editorial en profundidad que garantice la coherencia del conjunto). Fuertemente comprometida con el multilingüismo de la investigación y de las publicaciones científicas, no se limita al inglés, sino que también acoge manuscritos en alemán, español, francés, italiano y portugués. The new Plural Terminologies series is intended as a forum for academic exchange, open to this plurality of approaches, and welcomes monographs (including works resulting from doctoral dissertations or habilitations/professoral theses) or collective volumes (including conference proceedings, after a mandatory in-depth editorial work guaranteeing the coherence of the whole). Strongly committed to multilingualism in research and scientific publications, it does not limit itself to English, but also welcomes manuscripts in German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. A modern phenomenon of the highest importance, sport raises a multitude of scientific questions. The collection Sports knowledge publishes original works in French and English across the spectrum of law, economics and social sciences. These subject areas correspond to the sectors of specialisation of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), to which the collection belongs. The collection is directed by Denis Oswald, Doctor of Law, CIES Director and Honorary Professor at the University of Neuchâtel, and Raffaele Poli, Doctor of Geography, head of the CIES Sports Observatory. Phénomène moderne de la plus haute importance, le sport soulève des enjeux scientifi ques pluriels. La collection Savoirs sportifs publie des contributions originales en français et en anglais dans les champs des sciences juridiques, économiques et sociales du sport. Ces axes correspondent aux domaines de spécialisation du Centre International d’Etude du Sport (CIES) auquel la collection est rattachée. La collection est dirigée par Denis Oswald, docteur en droit, directeur du CIES et professeur honoraire à l’Université de Neuchâtel, ainsi que par Raffaele Poli, docteur en géographie, responsable de l’Observatoire au sein du CIES.

Relaciones literarias en el ámbito Hispánico

Esta colección tiene por objetivo dar a conocer aportaciones novedosas en los ámbitos de la traducción y las relaciones interliterarias, tanto en lo que respecta a sus aspectos teóricos y metodológicos más generales como a sus plasmaciones en estudios concretos, tomando siempre como contexto de investigación el ámbito hispánico, en cualquier época histórica. Se pondrá el énfasis en las relaciones entre las literaturas ibéricas, las relaciones entre las literaturas americanas y las relaciones transatlánticas, además de la recepción de literatura extranjera en el contexto ibérico, intentando aglutinar un discurso crítico de carácter multidisciplinar que resulte una alternativa al hispanismo tradicional en su búsqueda de un marco auténticamente comparativo e intercultural. La colección acoge monografías, publicaciones colectivas, actas de congresos y adaptaciones de tesis doctorales en inglés, en castellano y otras lenguas peninsulares. Histoire des Échanges, Communications, Postes et Territoires / History of the Exchanges, Communications, Post Offices and Territories

The Postal Service, guardian of a French-styled public service, has become, under the influence of Europe, a universal service, and by its history and by its roots in its environment, presents an opportunity to reflect on the manner in which traditional and contemporary societies have resolved the issues of communication, exchanges and control of territories. Thanks to the Committee for the history of the Post-Office, researchers in the humanities and social sciences have been allowed to reflect on its past and to shed light on the changes in the societies linked within its network. Thus, now active for nearly two decades, the committee has encouraged and promoted research on the Postal Service, its «tools/instruments» of exchanges, its diplomatic agents, its politics, economy, culture and even its land settlements, without forgetting its legislative and legal aspects. This series brings together work – doctorates, acts of symposia, biographies, testimonials – in French and in English, that specifically deal with the Post-Office and, more broadly, of the problems of commerce, communications and the control of territories. It is a platform for critical analyses of a world in perpetual motion. All the publications in this collection are subject to double peer review. Gardienne d’un service public à la française devenu, sous l’influence de l’Europe, un service universel, la Poste, par son histoire et par son ancrage dans son environnement, permet de réfléchir sur la façon dont les sociétés traditionnelles et contemporaines ont résolu les questions de communication, d’échanges et de maîtrise des territoires. Grâce au Comité pour l’Histoire de la Poste, il est donné aux chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales à réfléchir sur son passé et à éclairer les mutations des sociétés qu’elle relie grâce à son réseau. Ainsi, actif depuis plus de deux décennies, le comité suscite et encourage les recherches sur les Postes, « outils/instruments » d’échanges, et aussi agent de la diplomatie, de la politique, de l’économie, de la culture ou encore de l’aménagement des territoires, sans oublier les aspects législatifs et juridiques. Cette collection rassemble les travaux – doctorats, actes de colloques, biographies, témoignages –, en français et en anglais, traitant spécifiquement de la Poste/des postes et, de façon plus large, des problématiques des échanges, des communications et de la maîtrise des territoires. Micro y Pequeña Empresa Latinoamericana

The works in this collection are open access and aim to promote and disseminate quality scientific production in the economic-administrative area and related areas, developing research on micro and small enterprises focusing on a particular aspect each year. The relevance of the study contributes to the generation of knowledge for the development of a management model with characteristics specific to the micro and small enterprises in Latin America. The study is applied to owners, directors or managers of these organizations, who make most of the decisions.
