Edited by Graeme Davis and David Jacques from the University of Buckingham, ‘Studies in the British Mesolithic and Neolithic’ is a new series published by Peter Lang Oxford. It takes its inspiration from the editor’s excavations at Blick Mead in the Stonehenge World Heritage Site. Books published in the series present the results of fieldwork and excavation as well as works of interpretation from all perspectives on the British Neolithic revolution. The series’ first volume ‘Blick Mead: Exploring the ‘first place’ in the Stonehenge landscape’ will be published in January 2018.

At the beginning of 2018, the headquarters of Peter Lang GmbH will move from Frankfurt to Berlin. Founded in 1971, the current location in Frankfurt is the oldest office of the Peter Lang International Academic Publishing Group. The decision to relocate results from the need for expansion of the existing business premises. Berlin has continued to grow as a publishing centre in recent years, and by relocating, Peter Lang GmbH intends to further expand its close relationship to the German and Eastern European academic community. The publishing house supports academic authors from Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe and Turkey, with its editors in Vienna, Warsaw, Istanbul and other German cities. Editors currently working outside of the Frankfurt office will not be impacted by the move.
Within the framework of a new strategic partnership between Peter Lang and the international book-printing group CPI, all Peter Lang’s front-list titles will be printed at and distributed from the German CPI location in Birkach as of September 2017. Starting in summer 2018, CPI also takes over on-demand production of all Peter Lang backlist titles. To provide fast delivery to individual markets, Peter Lang will also cooperate with regional PoD suppliers such as Hachette Distribution Services in French-speaking markets. These steps eliminate the need for central warehousing and the availability of Peter Lang titles worldwide is significantly improved.
As of May 2017, Ute Maren Schubert assumes responsibility for global media production at Peter Lang. From the group’s Frankfurt office, she heads the 12-strong international production team and is responsible for book and journal production, global print on demand and media-independent data storage.
The online trading platforms for rights and licenses, PubMatch and IPR License, simplify the search for available usage rights and enable automated tendering, negotiation and the conclusion of contracts. The inclusion of titles from the front and backlist of Peter Lang on these platforms is expected to increase searchability and support the growth of the licensing business.
