Ahmet Murat Koseoglu & Irfan Kadioglu The Change of Logistics Organisations Caused by Globalisation Introduction The emergence of the phenomenon of globalisation and global competition is a result of advances in information technology. Logistics activities have been a factor while affecting this phenomenon. The competition between businesses has increased by using information technology effectively in processes such as production and marketing. The phenomenon of globalisation was brought about by the developments of information technology which have eliminated the trade barriers between coun- tries. With the elimination of these trade barriers, businesses have faced the side of competition brutality with its every aspect. However, it also creates so many opportunities. The global competition phenomenon has emerged after the world has become a single market. Enabling them to survive and to have a competitive advantage against competitors of businesses operating in the global competitive environment depends on the adaptation of the requirements to this competition. Competing priorities for competitive advantage are quality, cost, flexibility, and serving scale. Implementation of some of these competing priorities by adopting some of these competing priorities will provide benefits to businesses. Businesses should act by the fact that the conditions relating to competition can vary through continuously developing information technology. They should organise all pro- cesses in accordance with this changeability phenomenon and apply them to all business processes following innovations brought about by the information age in the close time.
