En s’inspirant des travaux antérieurs (Goffman, Brown & Levinson, Kerbrat-Orecchioni, etc.), cet ouvrage entend présenter un ensemble de savoirs et de pratiques linguistiques et socioculturels qui sous-tendent et commandent le fonctionnement de la politesse au Cameroun. L’objectif ici est de contribuer, à partir des 11 études de cas (salutations, termes d’adresse, compliments, travail des faces en contextes plurilingues et multiculturels, politesse en contexte institutionnel, etc.) à une meilleure connaissance du « style communicatif » camerounais.
While making use of previous research (Goffman, Brown & Levinson, Kerbrat-Orecchioni, etc.), this book documents a wide range of linguistic and socio-cultural rules governing politeness practices in Cameroon. Areas covered include: greetings, forms of address, compliments, face-work in multilingual and multicultural contexts, politeness in institutional settings, etc. The aim of the 11 case studies is to contribute to a better understanding of the Cameroonian «communicative style».
