Summary

This book is the first comprehensive English-language scientific monograph dedicated to the analysis of Moldovan emigration to OECD countries in the post-Soviet period.
Drawing on extensive empirical data and rigorous multidisciplinary analysis, the work explores the complex social, economic, and political drivers that have shaped migration patterns over the past three decades. It provides an in-depth examination of the evolution, structure, and impact of migration flows, highlighting key trends, policy frameworks, and the lived realities of migrants.
The monograph situates Moldovan migration within broader international and regional contexts, offering valuable insights into labour mobility, diaspora formation, and transnational dynamics. It also addresses the implications of emigration for both the country of origin and destination countries, contributing to ongoing debates on migration governance and development.
This book is an essential resource for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners, as well as for anyone interested in contemporary migration processes and the pursuit of opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world.
