This series deals with the Old Germanic languages and literatures. Linguistic monographs should be concerned with descriptive, historical, or comparative grammar, or with etymology. Literary studies should be limited to the period from the earliest documents to approximately the beginnings of the Early Middle Ages or Middle High (Low) German periods.

Middlebury Studies in Russian Language and Literature

The Middlebury Studies in Russian Language and Literature series seeks to expand our knowledge of the latest developments in linguistics, literary and pedagogical scholarship devoted to Russian language and literature. The series includes analyses of texts and authors, translations of significant literary and scholarly works, and writing on theoretical and applied linguistics with special attention to new methods for the teaching of Russian language and literature. Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature

The series will include original monographs as well as collective works and outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations (Habilitationsschriften) on various aspects of English Linguistics, English language teaching and language acquisition as well as literature in English. The Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature came into being in 2009 as a series published by Warsaw Division of the Lodz Academy of Management. Eight volumes have come out to date. In the area of Linguistics special emphasis will be laid on works on Historical English Linguistics, Congnitive Linguistics, Pragmatics and Text Linguistics as well as translation studies. In the area of literature the series will focus on English medieval literature, medievalism, contemporary English literature, post colonial as well as American Literature. The series is open to scholars from Poland and abroad. Currents in Comparative Romance Languages and Literatures

The Currents in Comparative Romantic Languages and Literatures series was founded in 1987, and actively solicits book-length manuscripts (approximately 200-400 pages) which treat aspects of romance languages and literatures. Originally established for works dealing with two or more romance literatures, the series has broadened its horizons and now includes studies on themes within a single literature or between different literatures, civilizations, art, music, film and social movements, as well as comparative linguistics. Studies on individual writers with an influence on other literatures/civilizations are also welcome. This series entertains a variety of approaches and formats, provided the scholarship and methodology are appropriate.

British and Irish Studies in German Language and Literature Edited by H. S. Reiss and W. E. Yates This long-established series aims to publish works of serious scholarship drawn from the whole subject range of traditional Germanistik, originating both in Great Britain and in the Republic of Ireland, and readably written. Over fifty volumes have b een published since 1974. They include new books both by distinguished senior scholars and by younger researchers, collected essays either by single authors or by several hands (these have included papers emerging from conferences, often in both Eng lish and German) and selected doctoral dissertations reworked in book form. The weight of the series has mainly fallen on literature, theatre and cultural history from the eighteenth century onwards, in some cases with a strong comparative dimension.

The series aims at bringing together the long-divorced disciplines of the study of language, literature and culture by inviting scholars working in each of these areas to consider the unique implications of their own field in a larger epistemic context. The interdisciplinary approach of volumes in the series should allow to develop a scholarly discourse which affords a comprehensive picture of English studies. Editors wish to include both text- and corpus-based research as well as works of theoretical concern. Many Voices

The literature of the Americas has a variety of cultural elements present under the general term "American." The canonical English mainstream of North America and the corresponding Spanish/Portuguese mainstream of South America have nevertheless reflected the arrival, assimilation, and marginality of numerous groups. Their experiences are both unique and representative of universal conditions of cultural contact and conflict. In both the United States and Canada, there are works which represent diverse aspects of the Black, Irish, Italian, Hispanic or Latino, Franco, German, Jewish, Portuguese, Greek, Slavic, and Asian communities, among others, as writers give both creative and testimonial form to the realities, both past and present of groups arriving subsequent to the original colonial period. In Latin America, some of these same groups are represented in the fiction written in Spanish and Portuguese. While this series focuses on specific ethnic groups and/or individual representatives, the fictional and poetic texts therein may address a range of issues, among them race relations, language and bilingualism, nationalism, colonialism, gender, class, cultural conflict, identity and maintenance, the context of multiculturalism. Critical approaches may include ethnocriticism, historical analyses, others, as well as structural critiques of these sorts of texts which by the very nature of their multiple focus become the aesthetic model for their content: a sort of border, mixed-blood, metis linguistic mode that in turn requires a double vision of its readers and critics. This series offers a platform that welcomes publications dealing with culture, literature and visual arts developed in English speaking countries. We invite academic works (both essays and volume-length texts) on a wide range of topics, including historical and recent developments in literary and cultural studies. As the title "encounters" indicates, we wish this series to be a meeting point for a variety of academic approaches. Hence we encourage diverse, interdisciplinary, comparative and multi-faceted takes that may blend sophisticated, theoretical analyses with pragmatic discussions, enabling new ways of thinking and interpreting human experience.
