Title: Histories of Women’s Football in Britain and Ireland, edited by by Fiona Skillen, Helena Byrne, Gary James
Review by: Hans Bolling
“In summary, Histories of Women’s Football in Britain and Ireland is not only a book that utilizes previously inaccessible source material to shed new light on a phenomenon for which interest has increased significantly during the 21st century, but the book also highlights forgotten and/or ignored pioneers. It is only by reading through the original sources that it is possible to challenge the prejudices of previous writers.”

Title: From Tribal Society to Nation-State: A Survey of the National Development of Nigeria, by Liu Hongwu
Review by: Olawale Isaac Yemisi Department of History, University of Ibadan
”Higher education teachers are encouraged to recommend Liu Hongwu’s book to students as it opens up the thrusts of Nigeria’s history, around which a solid foundation can be built. Liu Hongwu’s publication is also a testament to Africa–China relations in education and cultural knowledge exchange, which is crucial to deepening how both actors understand each other.”

Title: Why Are You So Angry?, by Anne Potjans
Review by: Jeannette Oholi

Title: Reformers, Activists, Intellectuals, and the Circulation of Knowledge: Studies in Social, Cultural, and Popular Educational Movements in Europe, 1815 – 1973, edited by Barry J. Hake, Kirsi Ahonen, Christian Stifte
Review by: Jeannette Oholi

Title: Gewalt und virtuelle Räume in Mittelhochdeutscher Heldenepik: Rezeptionsästhetische Untersuchungen, by Tamara Elsner
Review by: Victor Millet
”Elsner’s textual analyses display an astonishingly high degree of accuracy; her readings weigh up the formulations of the text very precisely and describe their potential sensory effects with astonishing simplicity and precision. Elsner repeatedly points out details that even the experienced reader who knows the text repeatedly overlooks. In this respect, reading Elsner’s book is recommended for anyone interested in the depiction of violence in medieval literature, for her analysis of these texts reveals aspects that also apply to other premodern works. As daring as it might be to examine how medieval recipients might have read or heard a text, Elsner’s interpretations of the specific wording in each case are very convincing.”

Title: Lingüística queer hispánica.
Review by:
