Transatlantic Aesthetics and Culture

This series hosts works coming from both sides of the Atlantic that offer multicultural and interdisciplinary perspectives on modern literary, aesthetic, and cultural issues. It embraces studies of literature, theatre, cinema, visual arts, or dance. Defamiliarizing subjects by adopting an outsider’s view or bringing to bear different aesthetic or theoretical discourses on particular cultural spheres are among the privileged approaches of Transatlantic Aesthetics and Culture. The series aims to foster dialogue and encourage different cultural and critical discourses. It welcomes monographs and collections of essays. Contributors are invited to submit projects to the editors.

This series publishes explorative thinking in the philosophy of art as well as in the philosophy of life. Applied aesthetics and theoretical development of non-traditional topics are considered, along with traditional studies in aesthetic theory or the problems in specific arts. Well-written volumes may take the form of monographs, treatises, collected essays, proceedings, reference works, and translations. Use of illustrations is encouraged. In addition to works in English, texts in German, French, Spanish, Italian, and other languages may be published. Music and Spirituality

Music and Spirituality explores the relationships between spirituality and music in a variety of traditions and contexts including those in which human beings have performed music with spiritual intention or effect. It addresses the plurality of modern society in the areas of musical style and philosophical and religious beliefs, and gives respect to different positions regarding the place of music both in worship and in the wider society. The series will include historical, anthropological, musicological, ethnomusicological, theological and philosophical dimensions and encourages multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions. It looks for well-researched studies with new and open approaches to spirituality and music and encourages interesting innovative case-studies. Books within the series are subject to peer review and will include single and co-authored monographs as well as edited collections including conference proceedings. The use of musical material in either written or recorded form as part of submissions is welcome.
