This series aims to promote specialist language studies, both in the fields of linguistic theory and applied linguistics, by publishing volumes that focus on specific aspects of language use in one or several languages and provide valuable insights into language and communication research. «Comparatism and Society» is an interdisciplinary collection which considers literature, the arts and the humanities in a close interaction with the evolution of society and the history of ideas. Although open to a wide range of methodologies, it nevertheless favours the perspective of cross-analysis, convinced that the objective of all research should be to reach beyond the limits of linguistic, national and disciplinary borders. Comparatism and Society aims to increase contacts between university researchers and those interested in sharing results and disseminating them to a wider audience. « Comparatisme et Société » est une collection interdisciplinaire qui envisage la littérature, les arts et les sciences humaines dans une interaction étroite avec l’évolution de la société et de l’histoire des idées. European Semiotics / Sémiotiques Européennes

European Semiotics originated from an initiative launched by a group of researchers in Semiotics from Denmark, Germany, Spain, France and Italy and was inspired by innovative impulses given by René Thom and his «semiophysics». The goal of the series is to provide a broad European forum for those interested in semiotic research focusing on semiotic dynamics and combining cultural, linguistic and cognitive perspectives. This approach, which has its origins in Phenomenology, Gestalt Theory, Philosophy of Culture and Structuralism, views semiosis primarily as a cognitive process, which underlies and structures human culture. Semiotics is therefore considered to be the discipline suited par excellence to bridge the gap between the realms of the Cognitive Sciences and the Sciences of Culture. The series publishes monographs, collected papers and conference proceedings of a high scholarly standard. Languages of publication are mainly English and French. Sémiotiques européennes est le résultat d'une initiative prise par un groupe de chercheurs en sémiotique, originaires du Danemark, d'Allemagne, d'Espagne, de France et d'Italie, inspirée par l'impulsion innovatrice apportée par René Thom et sa «sémiophysique». Le but de cette collection est de fournir une large tribune européenne à tous ceux qui s'intéressent à la recherche sémiotique portant sur les dynamiques sémiotiques, et réunissant des perspectives culturelles, linguistiques et cognitives. Cette approche, qui se nourrit de différentes sources, telle que la phénoménologie, le gestaltisme, la philosophie de la culture et le structuralisme, part du principe que la sémiosis est essentiellement un procès cognitif, qui sous-tend et structure toute culture humaine. La sémiotique est donc considérée comme la discipline par excellence capable de créer un pont entre les domaines des Sciences cognitives et ceux des Sciences de la culture. Sémiotiques européennes accueille tant des monographies que des anthologies et des actes de colloques d'un haut niveau de recherche, rédigé de préférence en anglais et en français.

Regional Integration and Social Cohesion

«Regional Integration and Social Cohesion» (RISC) is an interdisciplinary and multilingual (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) series that examines the human and environmental impacts of regional integration, defined legally/politically (supranationalism), economically (globalization), socially (identity), and geographically (borders). The series aims to link global analysis of issues associated with social cohesion, such as market shifts, immigration, environmental risk and the deterioration of natural resources, human rights, violence and security, etc., with national and subnational studies that focus on political decision-making, the non-governmental sector and social participation in public debates, economic transformations, social marginalization, identity, etc. Thus, the series aims to combine the international, national and subnational arenas of politics in thematically-oriented research. While proposed case studies are welcome, the works presented in this series from all social science disciplines, are predominantly based on the comparative method. Studies that compare across geographic regions, defined continentally, are of particular interest. In addition to the scientific focus described above, this series aims to connect theoretical analysis of questions related to social cohesion with policy-based research. In doing so, it examines the role of political actors at different levels of regional integration processes and it studies citizen responses to changing opportunity structures in the economic, social and political spheres. Thus, the series attempts to shed light on contemporary shifts in the uses and types of power in policy-making processes. The issue of changes in how policies are being made is linked to: «who affects policy-making?» and «what impact do policies have in social and economic arenas?» « Intégration régionale et cohésion sociale » (RISC) est une collection interdisciplinaire et multilingue qui étudie les impacts humains et environnementaux qu’exerce l’intégration régionale, telle que définie légalement/politiquement (supranationalisme), économiquement (mondialisation), socialement (identité) et géographiquement (frontières). La collection cherche à mettre en relation d’une part l’analyse globale de problématiques associées à la cohésion sociale – les mouvements des marchés économiques, l’immigration, les enjeux écologiques, la préservation des ressources naturelles, les droits de l’homme, la violence et la sécurité, etc. – et d’autre part les études nationales et régionales/locales qui se centrent sur la prise de décision politique, le secteur non gouvernemental, la participation dans les débats publics, les transformations économiques, la marginalisation sociale, l’identité, etc. La collection cherche dès lors à combiner international, national et régional/local dans une perspective thématique. Si les études de cas y sont les bienvenues, on tentera cependant de privilégier les analyses comparatistes, dans le champ des sciences humaines, toutes disciplines confondues. Une attention toute particulière sera accordée aux études établissant des comparaisons entre continents. En outre, la collection souhaite relier l’analyse théorique de questions liées à la cohésion sociale à une recherche de type politique. Elle examine ainsi le rôle des acteurs politiques aux différents niveaux de l’intégration régionale et elle étudie la réaction des citoyens face aux mutations des structures économiques, sociales et politiques. RISC met dès lors en lumière les tendances contemporaines des usages et des types de pouvoir à l’œuvre dans les processus de prise de décision. La question de savoir comment les politiques sont élaborées est liée aux questions suivantes : « Qui peut influencer les politiques ? » et « quel est l’impact des politiques sur la scène politique et économique ? ».

The «Cuadernos de Yuste» series collects the multilingual and cross-disciplinary contributions from the summer doctoral seminars organized by the European Academy of Yuste Foundation on European issues related to those linked to the work carried out by winners of the «Charles V European Award», given every two years. The seminars are coordinated by members of the Economic Governance and European Identity network, which gather German, Belgian, Spanish, French and Italian scholars who are joined by experts on the matters of discussion. The seminars welcome doctoral students, who may thus compare their current research, benefit from quality supervision and contact researchers from previous seminars that constitute the «Alumni from Yuste European Network». The series is open to other collective or monographic works - in German, English, Spanish and French -, that deal with issues studied in previous publications, such as Socio Economic Governance and European Identity; Relations between Europe and Russia in the 19th and 20th Centuries; Portugal and Spain in 20th Century Europe, Translation and Interpretation, or with topics that will be studied in forthcoming seminars. «Cuadernos de Yuste» recoge las actas, multilingües y pluridisciplinares, de los seminarios doctorales organizados por la Fundación Academia Europea de Yuste sobre temas europeos relacionados con aquellos temas que marcaron la labor de las personas galardonadas con el prestigioso «Premio Europeo Carlos V» otorgado cada dos años. Estos seminarios, que están coordinados por los miembros de la red Socio Economic Governance and European Identity (Gobernanza Socioeconómica e Identidad Europea), que reúne a profesores universitarios alemanes, belgas, españoles, franceses e italianos, a los que se unen, según el caso, otros expertos, acogen a estudiantes de doctorado que pueden, de esta manera, confrontar sus investigaciones en curso, beneficiarse de una supervisión de calidad y estar en contacto con los investigadores que participaron en seminarios anteriores y que constituyen la Red Europea de Alumni de Yuste. Diese interdisziplinären Studien stehen im Zusammenhang mit Leben und Werk der Preisträger des «Karl V. Europa-Preises», welcher in zwei-Jahres-Abständen verliehen wird. Die Seminare werden koordiniert von Mitgliedern des Forschungsnetzwerkes «Socio Economic Governance and European Identities», in dem Forscher aus Belgien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien und Spanien vereinigt sind. Zusätzlich werden zu den Seminaren gezielt einschlägig arbeitende Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler eingeladen. So können im Rahmen der Sommerseminare Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden aus ganz Europa ihre Forschungserkenntnisse präsentieren und mit etablierten Forschern sowie mit Teilnehmern vorangegangener Seminare diskutieren. Zusammen bilden sie die Gruppe der «Alumni des Yuste-Europanetzwerkes». Die Buchreihe versteht sich auch als Veröffentlichungsort für solche Publikationsvorhaben, sei es als Monographien oder als Sammelbände, die sich mit Themen befassen, welche in vorangegangenen Veröffentlichungen behandelt worden sind: Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftspolitik und Europäische Identität, Beziehungen zwischen Russland und Europa im 19. und 20. MeLiS. Medien – Literaturen – Sprachen in Anglistik/Amerikanistik, Germanistik und Romanistik

MeLiS is dedicated to media science, literature and linguistics from a cultural perspective. It also deals with issues derived from anthropology, the media, society, history and aesthetics. The cornerstone of MeLiS is an extended and descriptive interpretation of culture. The ability to decipher specific cultural derivatives and phenomena is dependent on time, space, the relevant context, and the disciplinary environment of the respective observer. MeLiS presents research approaches from various disciplines for discussion. A perspective that transcends trans-disciplinary or national-philological borders and promotes reflective dialogue among the academic disciplines is therefore expressly encouraged. MeLiS ist der kulturwissenschaftlichen Ausrichtung in den Medien-, Literatur- und Sprachwissenschaften verpflichtet. Dies schließt auch anthropologische, mediale, soziale, historische und ästhetische Fragestellungen ein. MeLiS legt einen erweiterten, deskriptiven Kulturbegriff zugrunde. Die Entschlüsselung spezifischer kultureller Erzeugnisse und Phänomene ist abhängig von Zeit, Raum, dem jeweiligen Kontext und dem disziplinären Umfeld des jeweiligen Betrachters. MeLiS stellt Forschungsansätze aus verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen zur Diskussion. Eine transdisziplinäre oder nationalphilologische Grenzen überschreitende Perspektive, die den reflektierten Dialog zwischen den Fachkulturen fördert, ist daher ausdrücklich erwünscht.

Social and cultural processes are eminently historical. Historical research and historical studies, themselves embedded in historical contexts, meet this fact by reconstructing historical processes and by making offers for their analysis and interpretation. A series of new phenomena and transformations are currently challenging the exploration of education and formation and their different institutionalized forms. Among them, the process of dense globalization, increasing cultural transfers and entanglements, the scarcity of natural resources, the accelerated pace of the transformation of media environments and novel forms of individualization are some of the most pressing. These phenomena and transformations pose new questions for historical research in education. The book series "Studia Educationis Historica" offers historical studies that address these challenges with traditional and innovative historical research methods. The series offers analyses on the history of education in different countries as well as comparative and international studies. German, English, and Spanish are the languages of the book series. Historicidad es una dimensión fundamental de los procesos sociales y culturales. La historiografía, una práctica integrada en tramas históricas determinadas, responde a este fenómeno en tanto reconstruye procesos históricos y genera ofertas de análisis e interpretación de los mismos. La investigación sobre educación, formación y sus diversas formas de institucionalización está siendo desafiada actualmente por fenómenos y procesos vinculados a la globalización densa, a las crecientes transferencias y conexiones culturales, a la escasez de recursos naturales, al cambio vertiginoso de los medios de comunicación y a nuevos procesos de individualización. Estos fenómenos y procesos plantean nuevas preguntas para la investigación en historia de la educación. La serie "Studia Educationis Historica" presenta indagaciones que lidian con estos desafíos tanto con herramientas historiográficas tradicionales como innovadoras. La serie incluye estudios sobre la historia de la educación de diversos países y trabajos comparados que pueden ser publicados en alemán, inglés o español. Historizität ist eine grundlegende Dimension sozialer und kultureller Prozesse. Historiographie trägt dieser Tatsache Rechnung, indem sie selbst in bestimmte historische Kontexte eingebettet historische Prozesse rekonstruiert und verschiedene Analyse- und Deutungsangebote macht. Die Erforschung von Erziehung und Bildung und der verschiedenen Formen ihrer Institutionalisierung ist heute zugleich von Phänomenen und Prozessen einer dichten Globalisierung, verstärkter kultureller Verschränkungen und Transfers, von Ressourcenknappheit, einem beschleunigten Medienwandel und neuartigen Prozessen der Individualisierung geprägt. Sie werfen immer wieder auch neue Fragen für die bildungshistorische Forschung auf. Die Reihe "Studia Educationis Historica" präsentiert Untersuchungen, die den genannten Herausforderungen sowohl mit herkömmlichen als auch mit neueren historiographischen Mitteln begegnen. Foreign Language Teaching in Europe

Foreign Language Teaching in Europe is a series focusing on dissemination of ideas, experiences, and research on modern language pedagogy and language teacher education from sources throughout Europe and beyond. This series aspires to represent the field in its diversity and forms a forum for the expansion of contributions on modern language learning. Thus, this series’ ambition is to be of a high quality, and innovative, and to stimulate further research in the field. The editors of this series welcome submissions of monographs and edited volumes in the field of modern language pedagogy. Book proposals may be submitted to the series editor, Dr. Manuel Jiménez Raya (mjraya@ugr.es). Foreign Language Teaching in Europe ist eine Buchreihe, die fokussiert ist auf die Verbreitung von Ideen und Erfahrungen sowie auf Forschungsarbeiten zur Pädagogik im Bereich der Fremdsprachenvermittlung durch europäische und außereuropäische Beiträge. Diese Reihe bemüht sich, die Fremdsprachendidaktik in seiner Vielgestaltigkeit darzustellen und bildet ein Forum für die Verbreitung von Beiträgen zum Fremdsprachenlernen. Diese Reihe beansprucht, von hoher Qualität und innovativ zu sein und zu weiterer Forschung auf diesem Gebiet anzuregen. Die Herausgeber dieser Reihe begrüßen das Einreichen von Monographien und Sammelbänden auf dem Gebiet der Fremdsprachendidaktik.
